Summary
Everything seemed to be falling into place. Commander Shepard had a great team at her back, a unique home in the Normandy, and a burning determination to get what she needed- to hunt down the proof she required to rally the galaxy against the threat she knows is coming. And with a turian bondmate waiting to rejoin her on the Citadel, and the affections of an adventurous quarian by her side, she has all the reasons she requires to make sure she succeeds.
Then her life is snatched away violently.
Her family is thrown into disarray and are forced to go their separate ways, burdened with the knowledge of what is coming. Garrus Vakarian suddenly finds himself facing the galaxy without the woman he had linked his spirit with, and without her guiding light, finds himself unable to face the life he had known. He goes to the only place he could think of to work out his grief, maybe make a difference with each painful breath he continues to draw, and hopefully find a honorable ending to his suffering.
Ironic that his salvation lies in the most lawless place in the galaxy, but rules have no place in a heart torn asunder.

The Salarians will stop at nothing in the name of progress through scientific means. That includes creating a clone of a woman from a planet that died long ago. Dulan being a subject for research with the blood of a Qunari, will not be an easy project. Eventually escaping to the slums of Omega and building a mercenary team alongside a skilled Turian, with the title Archangel.
(Almost all characters besides Dulan are cannon, and written through extensive research in both DA and ME lore. Directors notes, books, comics and even a short interview with Drew Karpyshy, one of the lead writers of mass effect.)

Watching the galaxy turn its back on Shepard in the days following her death shattered what little faith Garrus had left in it. He'd been questioning his place in the Hierarchy for years and once Commander Shepard was confirmed dead, that question swelled to question in place among the stars at all. Armed with none of the convictions he'd had the last time he'd turned his back on his life to start anew aboard the Normandy, Garrus packs up to begin again on Omega.
Archangel's crew comes together over the next two years, filled with ex-mercs and ex-cops and ex-revolutionaries, all trying to bring some sort of justice to unjust streets of Omega.
