Summary
Twelve years after Yhwach's defeat, Ichigo is happy. The worlds are at peace. He has a wife, a child, and a normal human job. Everyone he wants to protect is safe.
And if everything's not perfect, well, he's really good at stubbornly ignoring things. Like the claws he grows occasionally, and how his friends have scattered to the winds, and how nobody ever...did anything about the Soul King dying.
It works really well, up until some pink-haired asshole attacks Karakura Town and he realizes he's been bored out of his mind. Then it gets harder to ignore.
(Eventual sexual content and some mentions of same. The characters are all adults and in their late twenties at this point. I'll warn for explicit content in the chapter notes, at the beginning. Mind the relationship tags. & is platonic, / is romantic/sexual)-

Summary
The Winter War with Aizen is over.
This brings with it a sudden return to normalcy that neither Ichigo nor Uryū are ready for.
Ichigo, waking from a coma to find himself losing what's left of his humanity.
Uryū, returning to a world that hasn't changed, refuses to acknowledge how fragile he's become.
Both of them, experiencing strange feelings towards each other. They were just friends and battlefield allies. These feelings inside themselves were just remnants from a tragic war they'd been thrown into too young.

Kurosaki Ichigo had always been terrible at controlling his reiatsu, and that was nothing new in any world, but when the last war came to an end and Hueco Mundo, Seireitei and the Human World entered into a peace agreement, fighting was no longer necessary. So it made sense that the best-known warrior's spiritual power was stabilized. At least that's what his family, the captains, Urahara, Yoruichi and his friends thought, since the remnants of his power seemed sealed.
While Ichigo spent his days at college, away from trouble with the rebel Hollows, people considered that he was enjoying his human life, as it should be, away from the dangers of years ago.
Too bad that felines have always been able to sense when their owners - or partners - are ready to die.
