So instead of saying it outright, the solution has to be taking him on a few dates, Derek isn't that clueless, right?

The world unfurls in front of him, everything all at once trying to cram itself into a container not made to hold that much. His head spins as everything unfolds, expands out into infinity and collapses back in on itself before his eyes, information flashing too fast for him to grasp anything meaningful. It's too loud, it's too much. His hands shake.
Aka my take on D3rlord's mindbreak at the hands of the king. This is heavily inspired by the first chapter of Inverted Colours by beesinabasket and Like Shards of Glass by Anony_Mousie. This can be read as either platonic or romantic, it was written with romantic intent but unless I write more it really is reader's choice. It's intentionally confusing and disorienting, and it's meant to be set in the world of minecraft itself, as if d3r is an inhabitant rather than a player, although it's a bit hand-wavy (and self aware) about it lmao

Avery is a cheerful, obedient shepherd tending to his flock of slimesheep, worshiping Hastur, the God of Shepherds, diligently and faithfully. Life is peaceful, slow, and perfect. But one day, Hastur asks Avery to find Derek, a renowned shepherd who suddenly went missing after trying to find a lost sheep.
What will happen when Avery sets off to find this mysterious shepherd? What would cause such a responsible man like Derek to abandon his sheep? Why did Derek vanish without a trace?
And who's this handsome fisherman that Avery keeps running into?
This fic will be more fluffier and lighter than my other one (Each Mortal Has His Carcassonne), but as a lover of drama, I WILL be going to some rough spots and take things as far as I can.

Inherent kindness did not exist. Not as far as Derek was concerned. As the crown prince of the Empire of Quelen, people were never kind to him unless they wanted something.
People were either sycophantic damn near to the point of insulting, or as rude as possible while leaving room for plausible deniability. They hated or loved him for the crown, he was not a living being as far as they were concerned.
That is what he believed until Avery waltzed right into his life and sat down and refused to leave, not that he wanted him to leave.
