“Mm, it’s more like what I’m trying to get in.” Benny retorted with a grin, pearly whites on display.
“I barely know you— what’s making you feel this bold? Didn’t you say I wasn’t your type literally four minutes after meeting me?” Eddie questioned, rightfully so— it was unclear whether or not Benny was just trying to be manipulative, or if he actually wanted this.

The world blurred at the edges. The light, the shimmer, the scent—it all blended into something dreamlike and unbearable. Phainon’s hand rose of its own accord, trembling as if pulled by instinct, his fingers stopping just short of Mydei’s— now bare— chest.
“Tell me what you want.” Mydei ordered, his voice surprisingly gentle but still firm.
“You.” Phainon rasped.
Mydei understood thoroughly.

The low hum of the café faded into nothing. All he could hear was the pounding in his ears—loud, fast, and suffocating. His throat tightened, and his hands trembled against the edge of the table.
Phainon blinked, visibly startled by the silence that followed. He adjusted his glasses, shifting his weight awkwardly. “I—uh, I’m sorry, did I interrupt something?” His voice was gentle, uncertain, and so human. It made the beast inside Mydei churn.

Footsteps, measured and steady, approached from the far side of the room. They echoed softly, each one firm, with the sound of metal clinking together. Phainon froze where he stood. The air thickened around him, time seemed to slow and the oxygen in his lungs almost left him.

“You’re a huge pervert, you know that?” Phainon nearly choked on air at the sudden accusation thrown at her. Her eyes widened as she whipped her head around dramatically towards the timbered voice of her wife, Mydei. Phainon was just humming and smiling as she polished Dawnmaker, handling her greatsword with ease. Yet Mydei had to abruptly interrupt the peaceful serenity her wife sat in, breaking comfortable silence with an incredibly inappropriate remark.
The soaring cyan sky was clear of clouds, the sun was beating down on the two of them, its comforting warmth now a scorching heat. Sweat had dripped down Mydei’s face, a bead collecting itself at the end of her sharp jaw. “Sorry…?” Phainon cocked her head to the side, adjacent to that of a puzzled puppy. “You heard me. Pervert.”

Mydeimos typed the last bit, hesitating to send the message he looked up towards the fading artificial sun that beamed upon him. Marks illuminating faintly within the sunlight that kissed him so gently. The sun that was burnt into Phainon’s neck and collarbone embraced Mydei in warmth so gorgeous, you’d think he’d passed.
He pressed send.
