Summary
When Mulder and Scully are called to look into a baffling death in a small, isolated town, they expect a routine X-File (if there's any such thing). “And Trevor said to Luandra, “Oh, look! Rocks!” He did provoke the most scintillating discussion. He was wrong, of course, as Luandra was quick to point out; they were not rocks at all but Ebloids, a species which just so happens to perfectly resemble large chunks of granite. Better to meet an Ebloid than the other sentient species on their planet, the Fvhjytfds; if nothing else, Ebloid is just plain easier to pronounce without offending anyone. Luandra had considered more than once introducing the Fvhjytfds to vowels, but Trevor insisted it would never catch on. These Ebloids graciously deigned not to shoot Trevor on sight … oh, hello, Princess Astra. What are you doing here?”
The gang visit yet another alternate Gallifrey, one eerily similar to their own. It soon becomes clear that there are major differences.
