Chika had shared his worry, trying her own attempts at getting Mikumo to put down his pen. Kuga hadn’t told her, but he’d heard self-depreciation late at night that burnt him just as badly to hear as it must’ve felt for Mikumo to say to himself. Some day one of them had to reach their captain."

Summary
He steps outside, allowing the new assignment to mull in his mind. Spying on adults was one thing, but he wasn’t sure how doing it to people near his age would feel. Realistically there wasn’t much difference, they represented the same stagnation, just different generations. But it still felt different to him.
Robin reaches out with his hand, blocking a few stars in the night sky. He had to wonder where the Watchtower was at the moment, visible to this corner of the world?
Regardless of where it was though, it represented what he needed. Reminded him of what was at stake. He would complete his missions, no matter the cost. That little he and Batman could agree on at least.

“Which reminds me, ya know what I heard Snipes?” Scout asks rhetorically, pulling his fish burger closer, “Heavy keeps saying that Medic’s food is good.”
Sniper makes a dubious face, pausing his eating to make a point.
“Yeah I know right! Even love couldn’t make me eat it, shit’s gotta be poisoned or diseased.” Scout takes a deliberate bite out of his burger and pushes his barely touched fries towards Sniper as a sign that he could have those too.

They were of course right. There should be no reason why he couldn’t fight back. It was why he could never tell his brothers or anyone. He couldn’t let anyone else find out how useless and weak he was. No matter what he had to do, who he had to hurt, he was going to wipe this all from his past and be someone else.

Velvet appeared distraught, as Valentino did the best to calm her, before turning to Vox once again.
"What about that boytoy of yours?" Valentino asked carefully, "You know they won't leave him out of this."
"I know." When the possibility for what they were going to do first came up, Vox had already decided how it would go. It was terrible and incredibly selfish of him, but he couldn't leave without Alastor. Grabbing the substance that they were all going to use, he inspected it somberly. "He's coming with me."
