“What? No, of course not,” Eggman sputters. Neo feels a worm of hope in her chest before he continues, “you cost way too much to try and duplicate. No, you’re not getting decommissioned.”
A beat passes, Eggman’s love for theatrics lending itself even now, in the quiet of the lab where Neo’s whole life is in the doctor’s hands.
“I’m simply clearing the nanobots and clearing your memories. Can’t have another rebellion like this one, can we?”
Something cold rushes through Neo. She knew about the nanobots, but her memories? That’s all she has- assuming he erases all of her memories of the nanobots and even earlier—
He’s going to kill her. He’s going to kill her and bring Him back.

Summary
The smell is what hits him immediately. He’s familiar with Mobian mating seasons, and the scents around certain animals get stronger until they either find a partner, or until the season ends. Shadow’s only smelled Sonic’s scent once, caught right at the tail end of one such season during a sparring session.
Shadow feels insane. The feeling crawls up his throat and blooms in his chest, leaving him almost dizzy from it.
Sonic sits in front of him, tied to the chair GUN put him in. The material they used is strong enough to contain Shadow, so the hedgehog certainly isn't escaping anytime soon. It certainly doesn't stop him, arms straining against the restraints. Shadow's eyes track how Sonic's muscles flex under his fur, and he swallows the lump in his throat.
Sonic looks wrecked, cobalt fur damp with sweat and tan chest heaving from exertion. Dazed emerald eyes lock onto Shadow, and his gaze turns hungry in a way that sends heat to his core. Shadow does his very best to keep from looking down.

“Didn’t even look like Sonic, honestly-” Amy starts, and Tails continues.
“Green spikes, really messy bangs- brown eyes I think? I think he called you Arthur first- said a friend told him you were here.”
“He did? I didn’t even hear that- he was so quiet asking the receptionist. I didn’t catch it-” Amy tilts her head as she processes the new information. Tails nods, but stops as he notices Sonic has gone deathly still.
“....Sonic?” The hedgehog in question blinks as he remembers where he is. He looks to Knuckles, who has very conveniently gotten very quiet. A ping comes in on Knuckle’s communicator, and Sonic glances down at it for a moment before making eye contact with an increasingly uncomfortable echidna.

Summary
Out of the corner of Metal’s eye, he sees something that gives him pause.
Its a simple dress. Black, sleeveless with a short skirt that would fall about mid-thigh. Oh the waist is an intricate rose pattern, green stems and leaves and red flowers blooming across the dress's torso. It's beautiful.
He doesn't even realize he's been staring at it until Amy’s clearing her throat to get his attention.

Summary
Warmth was the first thing Shadow registered. He can feel the sun landing on his face as he dozed, and he’s comfortable on his stomach under the duvet Sonic had picked out for them. He nuzzles into the pillow, letting the warmth cover him.
His brain wanders, the way it does when you’re half awake, threatening to slip back into dreams. His mind conjures up someone in the bed with him, a strong arm wrapped around his middle and face in Shadow’s quills. Shadow leans back into the warmth, a content smile on his face.
Shadow thinks of blue for a moment, and the mystery person is now Sonic. He can feel the hedgehog’s breath in his ear, wordless murmuring coming from the other as he sleeps. It doesn’t last long, however, as his mind wanders and the dream Sonic wakes up.

That's the first thing you learned, before you'd even understood the hate written into every line of your code and the fear that shouldn’t have been there but was anyway. You'd awoke half finished, your optical screen still not properly attached to your chassis and a drill to your hip. Your code threw error message after error message at the intrusion, and every instinct you'd had programmed told you to run, run, run.

Sonic’s never been one to dwell on past adventures, but he seems to take special precaution when skirting around what happened on the ARK. If it weren’t for his newfound friendship with Rouge that was built entirely on quips, Tails would think Sonic had pushed it entirely out of his mind.
Then, Shadow comes back.Or- 5 times Sonic and Shadow's budding relationship went right over Tails' head, and once when he literally couldn't miss it.

“Not exactly a normal hedgehog. You do recall my childhood was in space, and that I was made in a lab, right?” Shadow deadpanned.
Shadow growing up on the ARK may or may not have some effects on his ability to recognize traditional hedgehog courting rituals.
In which Shadow is oblivious to each and every one of Sonic’s attempts at flirting until one of their friends finally decides to be merciful and intervene.
