Summary
Nakahara Chuuya has just entered college, and he thinks he has it all -- a nice roommate, new friends, and a cute boy named Shuuji Tsushima who likes him just as much. But the longer the relationship goes on, the more he realizes:
Shuuji is not as nice as he seems. And his dad, Dazai Osamu? Twice as hot, twice as nice, twice as mysterious. He's everything Chuuya wanted and more, but it takes him too long to realize that Dazai is the one he wants, and not his son.
As Chuuya gets more involved with Dazai, he finds himself facing situations he never expected to. Too late, he realizes that he, and the city of Yokohama, will never be the same. Everyone has secrets -- even his family, even the people he loves.

Because this is soukoku, of course Chuuya’s plan backfires.

“You never did tell me why you’re doing all this.” Chuuya decides to change the topic. “You look like you’re having a shit time. Why force yourself?”
Dazai hums, resting his head on his knees. “Currently, I’m not allowed to die. So I suppose I’m trying to earn my right to live.”
A scoff, unamused but not derisive either. “The hell is that? You’re here right now, aren’t you?” When he receives no response, he sighs. “You know, I don’t get you at all. You toy with friends and foe alike, always lording over everyone, but it’s not like you’ve ever looked at anything. It’s like you’re far off in your own world. I can’t tell what’s going on in your head half the time.”
“Maybe if your brain weren’t being consumed by your hat, you would,” Dazai replies automatically, earning an indignant shout from Chuuya.
For Dazai, living might be far more terrifying than dying, but there are people who will catch him when he falls.
(A BEAST ending rewrite in which Atsushi makes it in time, Dazai says the right things for once, and things aren’t as broken as they seemed.)

"And not to talk about Kunikida," Dazai's chuckled turned positively devilish. "He will start messaging me asking me to help how to make such a perfect bento so he too can woo his ideal woman."
Dazai took a couple more shots and fell back on his butt, a long sigh as he smiled at the results of his hard work.
"I am the best husband in the world," he announced."You're the worst husband in the world," Chuuya screamed.
or Chuuya gets saved at 15, being rescued by the streets and changing his life, never meeting the Port Mafia, but few years later he still ends up married to a goddamn mackerel.
