Summary
As a Borrower, Leafe has been warned of the many dangers of the Humans her species exists to take from. As long as Leafe can remember, she has been warned that showing herself to a human would be the equivalent of a death sentence.
She was never warned about falling in love with one.
Leafe Driftwood, 3.5 inches tall and twenty years old, is a lone borrower with poor eyesight who lost her parents to her previous home's fumigation two years ago. She finds herself invested with the drama of her new house, rooting for the tomboy daughter; a quirky, kind, and determined human who is constantly fighting against the manipulation of her parents.
Sonja Zervas, a twenty two year old human at a towering 5'8", is an attractive mystery to Leafe. Leafe knows Sonja can never know her true nature as a Borrower, but if she could just see the face of her crush properly... And, perhaps, share a conversation with her, she'd be happy.
Sonja meets a strange robot that was once her own, claimed to be fixed by their neighbor a mile east of her house. However, the longer Sonja spends time with her old robot, the more she suspects there's more to this mysterious neighbor than they're letting on...

After moving to a new city, Glinda decided to go to a bar to cool off, and when one thing led to another and she went home with a stranger, she honestly didn't think much of it. She was ready to brush it off as another little thing. It was only when that stranger suddenly mattered that things got complicated.
She leaned so close to Elphaba that their noses almost touched and added with playful ignorance, “But it seems I’ve been bested. A stranger got into my home somehow. I’ll need to change the locks.”
“And the sheets. I heard they made it into your bed.” Elphaba shifted so her hand gripped the railing, her arm extended to block one of two possible exits for the blonde. “And I also heard they’d like to return sometime.”

Glinda shook her head and tried to call out for Milla, a guard, anyone really– hadn’t they heard her fall? Although that is her fault for having so few people around the palace anyway. As Glinda opened her mouth, the noise that came out was more of a bleat. Glinda furrowed her brows in confusion, but sure enough, opening her mouth once again, another bleat. As a matter of fact, now that Glinda had a much better awareness of her bearings, she noted the dress she’d been wearing was a pile on the floor. She couldn’t be nude, no, she didn’t feel chilled. And in fact, she was much shorter than she should be. Glinda knew she was on the shorter side for Gillikinese, but she was certain she used to be able to reach the shelves.
As she moved to step out of the pile that was her dress, Glinda noted the hooves that occupied the space her feet should. Her legs were wobbling as she took a few shaky steps toward the mirror in the corner of the room. Peaking into the mirror confirmed– sure enough– Glinda was no longer human. She was now instead a deer.

Her wife had recently started a new job in the Emerald City, hence their new living situation. The new scenery was a bit strange still, but Glinda wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. She looked down at the glittering green city as she hummed. Sunset always lit up the semi-transparent buildings with the loveliest of colors. It reminded her of Elphaba’s skin in the mornings, glowing in dawn light as she slept.
She plucked a few tomatoes from the plant on the windowsill, making a mental note to ask her wife to coax a few more flowers to grow. As the water boiled, she set out chopping and mixing in all the ingredients for their favorite sauce. Just as she set the mixture on to cook, the door clicked open.
Elphaba walked in with a small bouquet of poppies, hanging her hat and broom on a peg by the wall and smiling.
“Hello, my sweet.”//////////////////

Elphaba touched down inside the treehouse, soft moss silencing her landing. Yellow light filled the space, though it would be dark before long. With a flick of her wrist, everything returned to its rightful place. Her cloak and hat hung themselves neatly on a row of tree roots she had coaxed to grow like hooks. Her boots slipped off, sitting by the long stretch of trunk that served as her launch point when she flew. The broom, still buzzing under her hands, settled easily next to her boots, its bristles straightening themselves out after a long fly. Elphaba watched, one eyebrow cocked. The thing wasn’t alive, exactly, but it certainly had opinions about how well she maintained its aging wood.
Slinging her bag over her shoulder, she pinned the new poster up to the wall, stepping back with a sigh.
“You’d think that after this long, they would give up on the story that you kidnapped me.”
