Summary
Shortly after the Blade trials, Lance gets concussed and has massive brain fog. He thinks he’s recovering just fine, but his memory issues have caused him to forget one major fact: Keith is Galra. Now the team gives Lance weird looks when he boasts that he’s better than him and a whole lot of diplomats suddenly have something bad to say about Keith, which—back off, Keith is his rival. Things are looking up for Lance in terms of the rivalry; he’s been winning more and more, but Keith seems to be drawing away from him. And wait, does he look sad?

“Aw,” the druid coos, “So much fire. So much rage in that trembling heart of yours. It’d be a shame if I simply quashed it, wouldn’t it?”
Keith stares straight at the druid. He bores his eyes into the shine of its face and looks his reflection dead in the eye. “Fuck—you.”
The druid tips its head all the way back till its face is far out of sight and it laughs. It shrills and twitches and ticks and shakes. “So much fire!” It shrieks. “So much fire and it’s—”
The druid reaches forward and wraps its long fingers around Keith’s face. They’re like icicles searing his skin with blinding cold. It might’ve drawn blood. He doesn’t know.
“—all gone.” The druid faces him again. “All gone.”
Keith shivers under the touch. He doesn’t understand. “What?”-
A Blade mission goes astray when Keith has an unfortunate run-in with a druid. He falls sick soon after, and is handed into Voltron’s care until he recovers. While he’s there, he contemplates his place in the universe, the depth of his illness and its mysterious connection to Lance, and why he’s not getting better.

“What is it?” He says. After a few seconds of staring, he reluctantly unveils his blade from behind his back. The Marmoran emblem shines brightly in the glow of the overhead light.

Summary
He can understand the worsening of his conditions by the way his finger tips are icy cold no matter how many times he clenches his hands into fists. His ears ring and his blinks are longer and longer, darker and darker. He’ll come to from a sleep he hadn’t even known he’d gone to.
Keith grits his teeth and rips the fabric around his wound. He dabs the area around the wound with a cloth and hisses when it stings. Every now and then he checks his personal communicator in hopes that some signal has come through. Every now and then, he’ll black out and his vision will refuse to clear.
Somewhere between the long blinks, his father’s face comes into view.
“Dad?” Keith croaks.
