Tim Drake is holding it together. Barely.
He’s an orphan (which, yeah, isn’t exactly rare around here), his guardian barely acknowledges him, his place in the Batfam is… undefined at best, one of his brothers definitely wants him dead, and being Robin is not as fun as it sounds. The weight of Gotham is starting to feel a little heavier each night and sleep is a myth. Add schoolwork and the crushing loneliness of a 16-year-old who lives solo in a giant manor, and you’ve got a disaster cocktail with a cherry on top.
So when a weird floating boy shows up out of nowhere, Tim’s totally sure it’s just his overworked, sleep-deprived brain staging an intervention. A welfare hallucination. Happens.
...Still, it’s kinda nice not being alone for a change.or: Tim Drake is having a no-good, very bad mental health spiral—until a glowing boy phases through his wall. Literally.

Mike shoved off the wall, "This is bullshit, Nance. Why exactly are you wanting him to relive all of this?" Mike demanded, coming to stand closer to Will.
Nancy rolled her eyes at Mike and huffed, "I don't want him to relive any of it. But if there's anything Will can remember that might help us save the world, Mike, then yes, I'm going to ask him."
Mike's jaw dropped and even Jonathan seemed to freeze for a moment, "What-" Mike began, ready to tear into Nancy but Will's hand came around his wrist.
"It's okay, Mike. Nancy has a point. If there's anything I can remember that might help us now, it would be worth it." Will interrupted gently. Mike whirled around to see Will already looking at him, and he gave Mike's wrist a gentle squeeze before releasing him, but Mike's own hand shot out, gripping Will's arm.
"You don't have to do this, Will." Mike said, his hand tingling from the contact on Will's arm, for reasons he would analyze later - as if he didn't already know why.
"it's alright, Mike." Will said softly.
OR flashbacks, panic attacks and first kisses.

A rewrite of S3:
The night Dustin gets back from Camp Knowhere, he brings the Party up to the highest point in Hawkins to set up Cerebro. He thought that his friends would be excited to have him back-- even if it wasn't the most entertaining to sit on a hill and talk into a radio with no response, he thought they would at least wait for him before going home. He thought it was going to be the best summer ever.
Instead, he finds himself and the one friend that didn't leave him, Will Byers, intercepting a weird Russian transmission.
And, well... if he couldn't have the best summer ever, at least he and Will would have an eventful one.
