Before Felix could remove his headphones, he heard it. Heavy, borderline panicked breaths. Felix realized that it must be Hollander. His mic was not turned off when he left the interview. Footsteps. And then a door opening and closing. They had filmed the interview that morning at the offices of the Irina Foundation. It sounded like maybe he had gone into his office.

“It looks like you’re having twins, actually in separate sacs.” Her tone is cool and matter-of-fact. As if she was saying the sky was blue and as if she was not delivering the news of complete and utter insanity.
Shane’s hearing has gone muffled by the time the doctor finishes speaking and he stares straight ahead to the ceiling. Words are being exchanged but his mind is unable to catch up to decipher them. PMDS. Uterus. Pregnant. Twins.
What the fuck.
Something is being smoothed over his face but he feels numb. He blinks for a moment and suddenly the brightness of the room and the voices become coherent again. It is Ilya touching his face, whispering sweet affirmations in order for him to come back into himself.
“Breathe moya lyubov. In and out. I’m here with you. Is okay.” Ilya keeps repeating these sentiments until Shane is finally present in his body enough to speak coherent sentences.
“It looks as though you are about less than 10 weeks along. We’re going to take proper measurements and provide you with the details here. But we also understand this is unprecedented for unsuspecting parents and we want to inform you of your options.” Dr Hammock says.

Shane first brought up growing out their hair two weeks after he came out, when they were relaxing on the sofa. Ilya was watching the game playing on the TV internally mocking Chicago's extremely sloppy playing, they could barely keep the stick in their hands let alone the puck. He could feel Shane tense slightly, as there was a particularly hard check, against him grimacing slightly before sighing.
"I was thinking-" Shane began.
"-Careful Hollander." Ilya interrupted almost absent-mindedly. Shane hit him lightly causing Ilya to laugh still looking at the TV.

The comedy show had been Maverick's suggestion, when he'd heard Fritz wondering out loud why they never found anything better to do in the evenings than hang out in the same bar. Some comedian he's seen before, or something, and Jake hadn't bothered looking into it, but Halo said she'd found some clips of the guy on YouTube and he seemed pretty funny. Jake's not really concerned about the comedy; he just likes the change of pace.
So, sure: twelve fighter pilots walk into a comedy club. Jake's still figuring out the punchline.
