“Where are we going?” Eddie asked Steve as he climbed in the passenger seat.
“Somewhere. Nowhere,” he answered with a smile, “You just seemed like you needed to get away, so that’s what we’re going to do.”
Eddie stared at Steve through the darkened cab of the car and tried to process what was happening as Steve turned the car on and began to drive away from the house. Neither of them spoke as Steve maneuvered the car way from all the other vehicles parked on the street. Once they were away from the crowded area and Eddie felt himself relax slightly in the front seat, his ears picked up on a sound.
"Is this ABBA?" Eddie asked with a laugh.

Eddie is uncomfortable at a party and Steve offers to go on a drive with him.

"Dustin's fine," he said, not wanting her to worry any longer than she had to. He blinked in surprise when she waved one of her hands.
"I know." She gestured… somewhere, Steve was too busy watching her in confusion to look. "He wasn't in the mall, Lucas told me."
"Oh." Steve shifted his weight from one foot to the other. Mrs. Henderson's face screwed up in a familiar expression of concern. Dustin wore the same one when he was worried about something. "Then what—"
She reached up, hand hovering over his sore eye without touching it. Her other hand rested gently against Steve's relatively unscathed cheek and his mouth snapped shut with a click.

“Does that mean – ” Jonathan starts, then pauses. “Does that mean you want the three of us to…pretend to date each other?”
“We don’t have to,” Steve says far too quickly. “I mean, obviously we don’t have to. C’mon, that would be…”
He had been going to say “weird,” but at the last second, he stops. Not because it would be the wrong thing to say – though he knows it would be – but because for a bizarre moment, Steve finds himself worried that if he did say it, Nancy and Jonathan would agree with him.

“Doesn’t matter if you’re a human, though. ‘Long as you’re not a wolf with some bullshit prejudice,” Eddie's eyes widen, “Not that there’s anything wrong about wolves, they just don’t like me, or vamps in general I guess, so I try to avoid them when I can,” he says all in one breath before going back to picking at his dinner.
Steve swallows hard, because, well, he is a wolf. Once Eddie finds out about what he is, maybe he won’t want to be friends. Maybe he’ll see Steve differently. Maybe Eddie will make good on his ‘avoid wolves’ policy and they’ll go back to awkwardly nodding in the hall at one another.
Already, Steve knows what he’s going to do before he says the words. He’s well aware it’s the worst idea he’s ever had, especially because they just met, but Steve’s wolf went ‘That’s the one’ and all he wants, needs, is a chance and if lying gets him one then—
“You got me,” he smiles weakly, “Total human dork.”
