Tarvek Sturmvoraus had been in worse situations before, while wearing fewer clothes. Only twice, though.
"I won't apologize for the loincloth," Dr. Leichenschmidt said as he dipped his gloved hands in a basin of faintly yellow liquid. The spider silk that had been stuck to them sloughed off into it, and sizzled gently as it dissolved. "It's traditional, you know. And I don't like to make her deal with all those layers, should the virgin sacrifice become necessary."
The 3-meter-long spider inside the adjacent web pit made a gurgling, hissing noise that sounded remarkably like "Thanks, boss."

This story is set roughly 6 months after Agatha freed Mechanicsburg, at a time when the main plot is either resolved or unavoidably on hold. There are still a lot of problems that need solving around Europa, and Dr. Wolfgang Leichenschmidt is one of them— as are his many and various spiders.
