“I’m San,” San says, voice dropping in a force of habit, something that has latched onto him from years of living the same humdrum life and his lifelong acquaintance with introducing himself to people who truly didn't give a fuck about him or anything he did, introductions serving merely as a necessary evil.
The stranger looks at him for a brief moment before he tilts the disinfectant bottle into the ball of cotton, soaking it as he leans forward and presses it against San’s stitches. San grabs his wrist.
“I’m gonna need a name before you treat me, pretty boy,” San says, making sure that it doesn’t come off sounding like a request.
The stranger raises his head to meet his eyes, something like sadness pooling in his eyes, smudged black and purple distracting San for the umpteenth time this evening and whispers softly, “Wooyoung.”
It’s a pretty name for a pretty face, but San is presented with an even prettier smile, shy and curling at the edges of his mouth, lilac field for his hair and cherry blossom cheeks, as he repeats it under his breath.
Or, San is working in the task force as a mercenary for an intergalactic law enforcement authority, and Wooyoung's the anomaly he doesn't see coming.

Bite marks trailing down his long neck, blooming red and dark.
And San remembers exactly what happened last night.

Sometimes you consciously make the decision to drink away your loneliness on a work night. Sometimes that leads to you sleeping with your new colleague. And sometimes said colleague is so pretty you simply can't let him go.

Wooyoung catches on to what’s happening way too late. San plops down on the seat next to his and tugs on his hand, placing it on top of his head.
“Please,” he says, eyes already half-lidded and going slightly cross-eyed with how his cheek is squished against the table.
“I could have had class,” Wooyoung says, not giving in yet.
“You have afternoons off on Fridays,” San says and it’s endearing, how he still possesses control of his cognitive skills and remembers Wooyoung’s schedule even if he’s toeing the edge of oblivion.
Wooyoung decides to indulge San and closes his books, moving them away so that he can lie down on the table facing San. He scratches San’s scalp, alternating between gentle and slightly harsher movements in a way he knows will turn his best friend to putty.
Or, Wooyoung has been in love with his best friend, San, for a long time, completely oblivious to the possibility that San feels the same too. Mutual pining and endless cuddling ensue with a generous serving of idiots being in love.

Wooyoung takes inventory of the pointed ears standing tall on his head, the long tail that swishes through the puddles on the concrete in warning, the midnight fur covering it and his ears that matches the hair dripping over his forehead. He’s a hybrid, and he’s soaking wet, trembling. Wooyoung turns and scans the street, but there’s not a soul in sight, just deserted sidewalks and pouring rain. He turns back to the hybrid.
“Are you okay?” His voice is drowned out by the storm, but the boy’s ear twitches regardless.
Only silence, green eyes, the sky crackling in white light, endless rain.

before, they had just entertained the idea of the next step but had been too busy with life. but now as they both were a lot older, seonghwa wasn't attending as many competitions as he used to, getting closer and closer to his retirement, and he also wasn't constantly helping san practice because the younger had found his own fiery skater that had taken up all his time now. it took forever, but now they had more time to themselves, things were peacefully slower as they really started to think about settling down.
or: the side story to Dance With Me, where hongjoong's new job at the ice skating rink had him ending up wrapped around the finger of the prettiest ice skater he ever did see.
