“And the thing is, I get it.” He grips his phone hard enough that he knows he’s risking cracking the screen again, barrelling forward before Henry can interrupt him with bullshit platitudes. “They’re both out there trying to fix the whole damn world to make it a little better for their trans son, but fuck, I miss being able to come home and having that be the one place I didn’t have to deal with any bullshit, you know?”
The silence that follows is so absolute, Alex pulls the phone away from his ear to check that the call hasn’t dropped.
“Henry?”
“I’m here.” Henry’s voice is cracked and hoarse, and he must realise it at the same time Alex does, because he clears his throat before speaking again. “Alex, I don’t—did you mean to tell me that?”
Or, Alex is a stealth trans guy. That doesn't stop canon from barrelling ahead.

Written for this kinkme_merlin prompt: I'd like a story based on the Selection-Trilogy by Kiera Cass - I haven't read the books, just write your own story but based on this summary:
For thirty-five girls/boys, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Arthur.
But for Merlin Emrys, being Selected is a nightmare. Leaving his home to enter a fierce competition for a crown he doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
I'd just love to see Merlin being from a lower caste than most of the others and not liking Arthur at first and just being his usual self, before he starts to actually like the prince. I'm looking for a lot of snark and Arthur secretly liking Merlin's difficult personality.
There's a love triangle in the books, but I'm not really a fan of that, so I'd be very happy if it's left out of the story. Choose whatever reason you like to make Merlin actually enter the competition.

What to do about the possibility of more magic-based worlds that were converted to weapons by the First Ones - or the possibility that Horde Prime was smart enough to make a backup of his consciousness? And the most important question of all - will Catra and Adora ever be allowed some alone time to explore their newly admitted love for one another?
COMPLETE as of 2020-09-10: Written as a sort of "Season Six", this story covers the post-war fallout, a long space adventure to find and destroy Prime's backup consciousness, a slow-burn exploration of what a Hordak redemption arc might look like, and lots and lots of Catra/Adora character study, hurt/comfort, fluff, and occasionally smut. There are some violent action scenes, but no character death.
