“I’m not going back,” Arthur declared. “I’m going to stay here with you.”
Merlin stared at him.
He stared back.
Merlin started laughing.
Arthur clenched his fists. “It’s not funny!”
Was he even hearing himself? “You…want to stay with…with me?”

Summary

And sometimes, it seemed that he turned up purely for the purpose of making a nuisance of himself. Years passed before Albus finally learned his true name—a name that, like most magical children, he had heard many times before.
What happened afterwards, though, was not anything that Albus would ever have imagined.
