When Abigail Hobbs is abducted by her father as the pressure grew on the Shrike, Will is enlisted to try and find her. Once in the aether, because of the dark nature of Hobbs, he is directed towards a creature he has never met before. Hannibal is charming, and dangerous, as most Fey are. Will has had years to hone the art of making deals with his kind, but he’s about to learn that Hannibal is in a league all his own.

Shion can read minds, an ability more overwhelming than he was prepared for when he moved from his small hometown to the city for university. In the city, he meets Nezumi, whose mind is much different than anyone's Shion has read before. Shion breaks his own rule by telling Nezumi he can mind read, intending on never seeing the man again - an intention that, of course, does not quite pan out.

There's so much he hasn't been able to control in his life, and the thought of having a soulmate, just another thing in his life which he also has no control over yet can't do anything about, is a little terrifying. So he ignores the words that occasionally appear on his skin. He has other things to focus on: like being a new student at a big university where his childhood friend and step-brother go.
