Only when Po held the completed order in his paw did he realize the hand in front of him was not an open palm demanding food. It was a long claw of a digit, pointed directly at him.
Po’s mind was entirely quiet as he took in the kung fu legend and his shaking yet unerring digit. Or—no, that wasn’t his mind. It was the crowd, struck silent some time ago.
The bowl in Po’s hand was steaming hot, fresh from the noodle cart.
…There was only one thing Po was supposed to do with fresh bowls of noodles on the job.
“Here you go, sir.” Po croak-whispered. “Enjoy.”
“Thank you,” Oogway smiled, humor and kindness shining in his eyes. The ancient turtle swapped the bowl to his other hand and continued pointing at Po.
Po blinked at the turtle, uncomprehending. “Do you… want another one?”
“No, friend,” Oogway chuckled warmly. He took a sip, smacking his mouth thoughtfully. “Actually, yes. But later, I think.”
Oogway’s staff caught Po’s extended hand and lifted it high.
“The Universe has brought us the Dragon Warrior!”

Prime moves swiftly, with purpose—lifting, shifting, tossing debris aside as though it weighs nothing. His steps are careful but unrelenting, the ground shaking just slightly under each one. The tremor of the rubble vibrates through Starscream and it feels like knives being jabbed into his wires.
Of course Optimus Prime would show up. Of course he'd come for one of his own.
He can't even delegate this to someone else. Optimus Prime is too noble, too compassionate, too honorable to not put his own life on the line for his underlings.
Megatron would laugh at the very notion.

Starscream is left to rust after a failed decepticon mission. Optimus Prime does not let him die.

“So, he’s just supposed to sit there and swallow their comments?” Fox asks, even though that is what he has found works best for him if he wants to be in his batchmates’ presence at all. “Trip’s been with us for three months. Before that, they spent all their waking moments together, and now they pretend like he is fundamentally different from them?”
Cody gets that mulish look that means he is all out of patience, so Fox knows he should brace himself. Yet, his words hit with an unfiltered force that he knows will bruise.
“Well, he did get assigned to the Guard.”

The transmission clicked off, and Rodimus spun around with his usual swagger. “Boom. Nailed it. That’s how you do diplomacy.”

The very idea of Rodimus thinking he could keep such a thing from his co-captain was not just patently absurd, but downright insulting. Megatron smelt the overpriced wax mingling with the stench of fire and brimstone and molten ore from the pit-smelter in which Unicron had spawned the winged demon the moment he stepped thruster on his ship.

Summary
One hundred years have passed since Unicron nearly ended human and Cybertronian life. One hundred years have passed since Rodimus and the rest of the Lost Light crew completed their journey. Starscream has been imprisoned still despite being a hero, and Rodimus finds no joy in his life anymore. When a seemingly new threat arises on New Cybertron to threaten the tentative peace, Windblade assigns them together to deal with it in potential exchange for Starscream's freedom. While this unlikely duo initially show great disdain for each other, their shared trauma and similar life experiences leads them to realize that they're not so different from each other after all. And just maybe...They come to realize how much better each of them make their respective lives.
