Summary
Letting people get close to her in general, it's — overwhelming. There are always questions, and hovering, that gap between Mel and the world around her so much wider when she doesn't have the emotional fortitude to do her best to bridge it. She's a pretty positive person, generally. It doesn't usually bother her much, until suddenly it does.
Frank's overwhelming too, she guesses, it's just that she doesn't really mind. He builds the bridge for himself, most of the time. It's easier when she doesn't have to do all the work.

Summary
He knows he could have called Maddie and she would have been there, though the memory of her disappointment last time stopped him. As for everyone else—even if he weren’t prohibited from talking to them by his lawyer, Buck doubts anyone would have come. The last time they talked was when they ran into each other in the grocery store a week back, and, since Buck is not eager for a repeat of that interaction, he doesn’t even consider calling anyone in to hold his hand for what is, he tells himself, probably just another little blip on his road back to the 118.
He is able to convince himself of this up until the moment Dr. Gutierrez walks into his room and says, “Well, Evan, you just can’t seem to do anything the easy way, can you?”
Because, as it turns out, there is a circumstance under which a tiny clot that doesn’t cause you to vomit blood in front of all of your friends and family is worse than three big ones that do: that circumstance is called ‘being on blood thinners.’

After the lawsuit, it takes time, but things are finally returning to normal. Everyone was treating Buck the way they used to, and he was staying out of trouble. He even took up crochet! When he's invited to a night out with his friends, his bad luck streak from the Year of Hell isn't done with him yet. Fight or Flight, it's his choice.
"A part of Buck felt a sting at being the last one asked, but an even bigger, still worried part of him was just glad to be included. He glanced at his best friend who was already looking at him and tried to smile convincingly, but he wasn’t sure it worked."

For the prompt: Post lawsuit Buck is feeling super isolated and sad. When the blood thinners have a side effect leaving him with a painful itchy rash on his back, he does his best to hide it. One day Bobby piles on even more chores than usual, and one of the cleaning chemicals spills and makes contact with his back rash. Buck is in agony but says nothing. When it becomes too much Buck finally goes to Eddie for help. Eddie and co are horrified and feel super guilty, especially Bobby. Buddie ensures as Eddie takes all care of Buck like he should have from the very beginning.

Eddie looked up, a little wide-eyed. He heard the sharp intake of a punctured breath from somewhere behind him but he decided Ravi came second right now. His hands flew out as he grabbed Tommy by the collar and snarled, “You take that back!!”
Apparently, Tommy had a death wish.
“At least, I’m trying to get him back, unlike you. You’re far worse than me for not holding onto something so important. Your son was far wiser than Evan. You’re going to ruin him as well but he’s too fucking stupid to run away from you like your son!”
That did it.
