Buck’s throat goes tight. Tomorrow. He looks through the doorway, Theo is humming to himself, completely unaware. “Tomorrow?”
“Yes.”
“But it’s Christmas Eve.” Buck didn’t know what to say. He was making cookies, he had perfectly planned the evening to lay out Christmas presents after Theo went to sleep.
“I understand that.”
“Then-“ Buck stops as his voice cracks. “Please.”
There is silence on the other end. “Mr. Buckley-”
“Please. Just-” He presses his free hand against his forehead. “Let him have Christmas.”
OR
Theo is taken away on Christmas and Buck crashes out over it.

Buck returns to the 118, he is only working three days a week for twelve hours, and on the outs with his team, and he is drowning in bills and debt.
Desperate for cash, Buck gets a high paying job as a live in bodyguard at Kappa Kappa Tau. He moves into the mansion to protect the sorority girls from an active serial killer called the Red Devil.
It sounds like a simple paycheck. But there is a massive catch. The girls at KKT are completely unhinged and crazy. Buck thought surviving a bombing and a lawsuit was hard, but keeping Chanel Oberlin alive might actually be the death of him.Or,

A crease forms between her brows. “Theo?”
Buck squeezes the little hand in his. “My-uh, my son.” The words come out stilted, Buck feeling like he was 12 years old again. “Hey, buddy, you and Jee go play.” Margaret looks confused for only a moment, watching the little boy run off.
Buck fills the silence before anyone else can. “Connor and Kameron, his parents” He pauses, the names still catching in his throat. “They passed away in a car accident last year. I was their sperm donor, you remember a couple years ago, uh- he’s been with me ever since they passed.”
“And you’re…” Phillip begins carefully.
“I’m fostering him.”
“Evan’s adopting him,” Maddie adds gently.
Buck nods. “Been approved and everything.”
Margaret’s expression softens. She looks at Theo, sitting cross-legged on the carpet with Jee, cooing at something Nash did. Margaret crosses the room and lowers herself until they’re eye level. “Hello, sweetheart.”

Buck crouches by Theo’s chair and wraps an arm around him. He pats his back and tries not to fall into hysterics himself. “I know, honey. I’m sorry.”
“Hey,” Eddie whispers over Theo’s head. “Let me try.”
Buck considers it for a moment. Eddie isn’t the terrible cook he and Chris like to pretend he is. “Okay. Theo, did you hear that? Eddie’s gonna make you a quesadilla.”
Theo’s face brightens substantially, and his tears cut off. “Eddie?” he sniffs as he leans into Buck’s side and gets snot on his shoulder.
