Summary
Soap, who hates himself for being an Omega, has a very difficult relationship with his heat. After being rescued by Ghost from a failed mission, the skull-masked Alpha surprisingly agrees to spend his heat with him. But Soap wakes up alone after, left with a broken heart and a bad frostbite injury. Now his heat is approaching again, but the cold has become Soaps only companion.
Will Ghost be there for him to warm him up?

Soap stood frozen in his corner, eyes glued to the man he had been searching for weeks. He knew now what Ghost felt like, how warm the nape of his neck was, how pillowy his chest was, how soft his muscles were. What Ghost smelled like, his tangy, sweet scent. What Ghost sounded like, how long twisted whines wrecked him when he came. What words dripped from his mouth like dark, sweet syrup, how he whispered “good boy”, and “omega” into his ear, burying his thick fingers in his cunt.
Ghost had seen him in his most guarded, intimate form: he had seen him as an Omega. He stood tense, heart hurting, because he knew that Ghost had been here on base the entire time, avoiding him. It could not be explained by something other than the sharp knife of rejection.

“Oh my god!” Soap’s mother exclaimed. “John, get over here, look at what's on the news!” She was loud enough that Ghost could hear through the phone.
“Soap,” Ghost cut in, trying to divert his attention, “Soap, stop. Stay where you are, don’t look.”
He ignored him, glancing at the TV to see that a news station was showing footage of a plaza outside of an important facility. Right in the middle of the square, strapped down to an old statue, was enough explosives to level the surrounding 10 blocks, at the very least.
Worse, though, so much worse, was a tall, well built man in all black military gear, hood pulled up and gloves covering his hands. Standing directly in front of the explosives.

Home on leave, Soap has to instruct Ghost on how to disarm a bomb over the phone. The pair make a good team - but not every mission can end well.
Ghost has dug himself out of his grave once already. Can he do it again?

He watches as Neil turns away, walks up the length of the room once, stops, looks back. “It’s ok,” he says, his voice drained of any emotion, face set. Sure. Resigned. “You always said this was nothing.”
Andrew nods. Remembers there’s a cigarette dangling between his fingers, so brings it back up to his lips, holds it there, doesn’t even bother breathing in.
“Ok,” Neil says again, and leaves the room.

"You know me,” Andrew says. “Do you know you, Neil?”
Neil blinks at him, empty. He doesn’t recognise his name.
“I…” Neil falters a moment, breaking his gaze, and looking down at his own body like he expects to find something else. He checks his own pulse, two fingers to the side of his wrist. Neil looks up at Andrew after a few seconds of murmuring numbers, not quite frowning but almost. “I feel gone,” he says. “Is my – am I here?”
Or Neil has a dissociative episode, and Andrew contemplates the terrifying ordeal of memory and being known and not. He also brings Neil back. That too.

Summary
The one where Andrew makes a perfectly reasonable request and Neil takes it too far like the dumbass he is.
Or, relationships are complicated and communication is hard. They don't always nail it.
So, Andrew has hit his limit. Neil’s charged silence next to him is so loud that Andrew can’t read over the buzz of it in his ears.
“Get out,” he says, turning to glare at Neil.
Neil blinks at him.
“Whatever stupid thing you’re obsessing over. It’s irritating. I don’t have time to solve your problems for you. Handle it. I have to study.”
Instantly, he realizes it was a mistake. He watches Neil’s face and body shutter up, closing tight like he’s locking down for a hurricane. It took so fucking long to get Neil to open up in the first place. Andrew had to peel him open one truth at a time. Fuck.

His thirium pump starts beating faster and faster the longer Gavin doesn’t answer, his anxiety spiking.
After what feels like an eternity, Gavin finally speaks. “…I need you.”
He sounded drunk, Nines noted. He waits for Gavin to finish his thought, but he never does. Nines swallows as he feels his face heat up, and he squeezes his eyes shut as he wills his blush to go down.
“Pardon?” Nines asked, desperately seeking clarity.
“I need you to come get me. I’m lost.”
Oh, right. That makes a lot more sense.

“No.” Ghost responds quickly, breathes out the syllable as if it hurts him to say. Soap can picture the way his eyes must squeeze shut.
“Why?”
“‘Fraid of what you’ll see.”
There’s a feeling in his chest, buried deep within his rib cage and the meatiness of his heart. It feels like a stab, a bullet wound, a fist around him, squeezing and squeezing and squeezing. “Not afraid of you, Lt..”
The shake of Ghost’s head is abrupt. It jostles Soap’s hand, and he adjusts by shifting it down, touching the heel of his palm to the space between his shoulder blades. “‘Fraid of how I’ll look at you,” Ghost clarifies.
Soap takes another shuffling step forward, their bodies almost touching. “How are you gonna look at me?”
“Like a dying man looks at water.”
