Out of almost seven billion people, of course Ilya's soulmate had to be his fated rival. It was almost poetic. Still, Ilya had enough sense to realize just how bad this was.

Still embarrassing, to have his breakup with this beautiful actress filmed and disseminated on Reddit of all fucking places, but not a nail in his coffin, burying him alive. But the video didn’t end there.
“Can I ask if you’ve ever been with another guy?” she had to ask.
And he, tears visible in his eyes, had to nod.
Just once. Just a single nod.
Why did he have to nod?
“Have you ever told anyone that before?” He shook his head. “Was it different? With a guy?”
“Of course.”

Summary

Ilya Rozanov, who clawed his way up from being a nobody newcomer from Russia to one of the silver screen’s top stars, is a direct contrast to Hollander, making headlines for going through a carousel of lovers and constant partying. The two of them have had an unspoken rivalry throughout the years, their films competing in the box office and the actors wrangling for awards -- particularly the most coveted Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
When director Jacob Tierney has the 10,000 IQ move to make Hollander and Rozanov the leading roles in a queer drama, the two actors have to set aside their different philosophies and try to understand what it is to have hot passion and to fall in love…for believability’s sake of course.

They both turn to her, and Shane says, “Like, the loser wears the winner’s jersey?”
“Maybe at the next game in a couple of months?”
“Is a good idea,” Ilya muses, nudging Shane’s elbow. “You will look better in my jersey than in Montreal jersey.”
Shane makes a low noise, his eyes holding a bit of a spark when he looks back to Ilya. It’s what Ilya was hoping for—the tiniest crack in the mask. He can see a hint of exasperated affection around the corners of Shane’s eyes, a little bit of fire burning just beneath the surface. It sends a thrill down Ilya’s spine, and he wonders if Shane will be snarky when Ilya gets him naked tonight.
“That’s not happening,” Shane replies, shaking his head. “Because you’re not winning.”
