Summary
It was an honor, or something, to be a chosen one. To have a prophecy about oneself was to be seen as dangerous, too dangerous for the mortal world, even. The children had all been told about it, about how the chosen had to give themself up to ensure their safety from the mythical. The Oracle would see who the myths wanted, and then send the chosen to the peak and they’d be sacrificed.
If the myths accepted the sacrifice, the town would be granted another ten years of peace and safety. If not, the chosen was killed for being a false chosen.
Either way, prophecies got you killed around here.
When the Oracle named Technoblade, it had felt inevitable.

Summary
Vinny was just an innkeeper. His family had run the local inn for generations, he really didn't know anything other than this. Vinny was, also, a pretty good judge of character. The two men who entered his tavern that snowy night... well. Those two were something beyond anything he could know.
Alas, there was no time to think about that. They were paying customers, after all!
(Vinny is about to find out what happens when a God of Blood and a God of Death walk into a bar.)

Right?

Summary
Christmas was, historically, not the most spectacular of holidays in the Greater DSMP. It was a time to remember the Church of Prime, to give gifts, and to play in the snow. But every past Christmas had ended up in either tragedy or war, often both.
Still, this is Michael's first Christmas without any battles raging outside, and Tubbo is determined to make the best of this Christmas for his son. (Even if it means ignoring the ghost lingering in the halls of their home.)
When Niki invites him to a party at the Commune, who is Tubbo to say no? It's just what the Christmas spirit needs, after all. Many hands making light work, warm hearths making warm hearts.
And if there's a few revelations made along the way, that's just a gift of the season.

Summary
Nothing you do ends up mattering in the end.
The world still burns, the country still falls, the flag still flutters to the ground riddled with scars as thick as the scars along your old battle wounds.
You clench your fist and scream at the sky, and it replies with lightning.
Another visit to death, another awakening in a warzone.
Again, again, again-

So when he awoke and found flyers in the street advertising the circus’ arrival, Philza knew he had finally caught a break.
The flyer itself was a mystery, with a simple smiling face and two handwritten lines of text:
The Dream presents the Circus of the Night. Tomorrow only.

Summary
Dream waited on the outskirts of L’manburg, watching as Punz dropped into the square. Shouts erupted as TNT dropped. Dream had to move.
He pearled across the square and ducked smoothly into the shadows on the other side of the lake. He was ready to signal Techno, to slip into sight just long enough for the Piglin to see and follow.
Then, they’d use the tunnel and—
A sound interrupted his thoughts, a nervous snort from nearby. Dream’s attention was jerked to the here and now, his eyes scanning for the source of the sound while his hand summoned his blade.
It was a horse.

Or: Dream realizes he's far more of an animal person than he'd like to admit, and that maybe the plan going wrong... isn't such a bad thing after all.

Summary
They found him during MCC.
He’d done so much to hide away; masking his magic and hiding his eyes and trying to blend in with the normal players. He’d managed to avoid their gaze for a long, long time.
But there they were, standing in the world and gazing into the decision dome.
The question was, then, who was it watching.

Summary
They were twin stars, pulled apart by gravity and gods, and all he wanted was to right their orbits once again.
He just needed to remember what was important.
But it was so, so cold.

After all this time, you still sing that song.
“Yes,” he replied, voice scratching with static.
It must mean a lot to you, mortal.

He couldn’t ignore it. That crow was familiar. He knew it, and it knew him.
I’m here, it said, I’m here, I found you and I want you to come back.
But going back would mean admitting he had run in the first place.
So he ignored it.

Summary
They moved in sync with one another, like a coordinated dance.
Something about the practiced rhythm the two moved with reminded him of a battle. A spar between regular partners.
“It seems like you’ve done this before. The Empire, perhaps?"
"You could say that. When you fight alongside someone for long enough, you know?”
There was a time when he would have known. He did understand. Somewhat.
It had been a long time since Dream had seen it.

Summary
He hesitated, looking down at the void. It called to him, and the memory at the back of his head tried to pull him back. His wings itched, the air was heavy, the magic raced through his very soul.
He stepped off the ledge.
For a moment, he fell, free and light and carried by the thrum of magic in his veins. Then his wings caught, and he soared.

Summary
When they hunted together, they worked as a pair. A tracker and a hunter. When they sang together, they worked as partners. A steady bass and a flitting melody, weaving together their victory song.
Their family joined them, singing and dancing and celebrating a hunt completed.
And it was good.
