Dave looks alright. There’s no blood. His hands aren’t shaking anymore. Light reflects off the smooth surface of his shades, rendering them a solid wall of black.
Dave turns his face in your direction, and you catch him doing the same once-over that you did to him. He’s making sure you’re alright. It would be touching, if it didn’t make you feel like a monster.
Dave nods at you. It’s the slightest incline of his head, imperceptible to anyone but the coolest of dudes.
Tell him.
Say something. Literally anything.
You just nod back.
You’re a fucking coward.

“So then what’d you get?” Tommy interrupts, pulling Tubbo’s focus back into the moment.
Maybe it’s the vulnerability penning him in on either side, the easy way Ranboo slumps into him and trusts Tubbo to hold his weight, or the way Tommy grins and asks question after question like he can’t even imagine being ignored or denied. The deep trust and simple kindness seep into him like an infectious, terminal disease — that’s what he’ll blame it on when his brain is more than a soft mush of warm and alive.
Tubbo smiles bitter-sweet and utters, “I got to keep my memories.”

“I would nuke someone for you,” Tubbo says plainly with all the confidence in the world. Because he has. He’s done it before and he would do it again in an instant — a thousand times over.
It strikes him with a sudden gripping fury. He needs Ranboo to know. He needs Ranboo to know it like Tubbo knows it, deep and intrinsic. Utter truth.
“That’s… nice?” Ranboo says, hesitant, cautious, nervous.
“Your face is nice,” Tubbo spits, because that’s also the truth.
“Thank you?” Ranboo’s voice pitches up into incredulity.
Ranboo doesn’t get it. And Tubbo desperately tries to convince himself that that’s alright. He will soon. It’s a work in progress.

Ranboo brushes a thumb over his memory book, the knowledge of Tubbo's entry still fresh in his mind from his quick recap on the way over.
Tubbo: Ex-president. Tommy's friend. Lives in Snowchester. Friend?
"You don't have to, I guess," Tubbo shrugs, rubbing his hands together for warmth. "Just a suggestion."
"You're sure you want me to live here?"
Tubbo frowns. "Why wouldn't I?"
"Well, I mean, we're... We're not exactly friends."
Tubbo's hand - the bad one, the one that's mostly scar tissue - twitches, and Ranboo can sense that he's said something wrong. "Are we not?"
