I have the Kenshin movies on my netflix list and I know that Satou Takeru is the protagonist. That's the extent of my Kenshin knowledge XD so I consider this a piece of original fiction. Extremely good fiction.
Kenshin is Gomez Addams (devoted male wife) and Kaoru is Katniss Everdeen (super cazzuta, turning weaknesses into strenghts), they get married because of circumstances, but learn to truly become husband and wife while also facing political intrigue and a conspiration. -

As far as I'm concerned this fixes the problem with canon.
Midoriya doesn't get an easy fix like a transferable quirk to make up for the discrimination he had received up to that point and would have faced in the future as well. Instead, he makes friend with Disassociation, but still finds the will to find a meaning to this injustice. -
