Stanley trudged up to the open telephone booth, the weight of his eyelids threatening to pull the rest of his body down with them. Rain pounded on the glass covering. He grabbed the nearly-broken red phone with all the strength he could muster and pressed his finger down on the jumble of numbers his mind had somehow maintained. Lifting the speaker to his ear, he closed his eyes and took a sharp breath as the dull ringing began to play. After a few moments, it ceased, and a voice spoke on the other end.
“Hello? This is Stanford Pines.”

Somehow it had been different, and perhaps until now, until he had been hugged fast by another of their company, held as a friend expressing gratitude, Bilbo hadn’t quite realised how different.
The thought of their leader caused Bilbo’s gaze to drag across to where Thorin was standing, restrained firmly by two elves, and he was embarrassed to find those blue eyes fixed upon him quite unblinkingly. His expression was unreadable, as it always seemed to be, but there was something fierce in his gaze. Something barely contained. Hidden, but so close to the surface that Bilbo still got a sense of it. Like a shadow, or smoke reflected in glass.

Stanley Pines was shot as he ran back to greet his long lost brother Stanford as Ford came out of the portal. Ford doesn't notice that Stan is injured however, and is a bit angrier than in canon and decides to punch the crap out of his brother. This is a bad idea as it nearly kills him.
Now Stanley Pines is swinging through the stars, holding onto a giant Axolotl's tail, wondering how he possibly could've wanted to die in the first place.
