“Killed?” Jason echoed; he could feel his skin paling.
“Duffel bag full of heads, thirty mob bosses shot dead at their meeting, several drug warehouses blown to smithereens, the dude you literally just killed two minutes ago.” Dick replied, “Ringing any bells?”
“Duffel bag full of…” Jason’s voice caught in his throat, “Heads?”

Dean didn’t wait for the man to write anything else, storming out of the room and down the stairs. He didn’t stop at the information desk, ignoring Barbara calling his name as he headed for the exit. Strong fingers wrapped around his wrist. He twisted around, breaking the hold and glaring at the man.
“Don’t fucking touch me.”
The man held up his hands. Amusement made his eyes brighter.
“Jason,” Barbara said as she wheeled over to them. “I told you to be gentle. Not bulldoze him.”
Jason, apparently, gave her the finger.
She snorted. “Dean, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to freak you out. Jason is my boyfriend’s little brother.”
Jason stiffened at the words and signed furiously at Barbara. She concentrated on what he was saying before rolling her eyes.
“Jason is not my boyfriend’s little brother. He is completely unrelated to my boyfriend and his whole family. He only puts up with me because I provide him with int—” she cut herself off. “Gossip.”
Jason crossed his arms like he was done with the conversation.

Agreeing to give the whole “family” thing a test run with a cross country road trip to meet her mother, she invites Jason along for the ride. After all, she should probably invite her dad’s boyfriend to tag along, to reconnect now that Roy’s among the living again. The only problem is that Roy and Jason remain blissfully unaware of her assumption that their connection was romantic.
