One time, a man with stitches on his forehead walked in, made prolonged eye contact with you, and then left without ordering anything. You’re pretty sure he was a serial killer. Another time, the one with white hair and sunglasses indoors mentioned a "higher mission", and you’re 90% sure this is how cult documentaries start. One of your regulars only speaks in weird food-related phrases. You assume he has some kind of medical condition, but no one explains anything to you.
But you are not about to ask questions, because ignorance is bliss and also job security. And unfortunately, they are all weird and they seem very interested in coming back.

"Mauga." You greet the man who has just appeared, grinning broadly as he leans next to you. His bright Hawaiian shirt would sting your eyes if it weren't for his huge figure and dangerous, toothy grin. "What gives me this dubious honor? What are you doing in Monaco?"
"Work," he simply replies, nodding to the barman. "Mix me something fun. With a little umbrella in it." He wrinkles his nose slightly at the word umbrella, as if the detail is particularly important. However, you can easily detect the pressure in it, along the lines of 'I better like it'. The young employee nods and gets to work mixing a colorful, fresh drink for the giant who is twice the size of the bar counter.
You roll your eyes.

She thought she knew fear, when she snuck aboard that strange little boat as the sailors started loading their cargo, stepping over oyster shells and puddles of brine to tuck herself between stacks of damp, musty-smelling boxes. Surrounded on all sides by lapping waves, bottomless ocean, and sitting quite literally under the feet of a pack of strangers with the power to do some real, genuine harm. Only having the letter, her knife, and the thrill of adventure in her heart to soothe her nerves.
She thought that was scary enough.
Being discovered by that terrifying captain, chased by hungry sharks while trying to escape, and held captive by a giant invisible sea monster the passengers kept calling a 'stand' was decidedly worse.
At least the weirdo passengers turned out to be good guys in the end.
(Or, the tale of the Stardust Crusaders, told from the perspective of a random little girl they accidentally picked up in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.)

“You’ve got to show ‘em a bit of dominance,” Guard Westwood philosophizes, meaty lips pursed as he runs his baton along the bars lining the long, gray corridor. “Show ‘em who’s boss from the get-go, and don’t let them forget it. Otherwise it’s game over.”
The two of you come to a stop in front of one cell and the man lounging on the cot inside lowers his magazine reluctantly, just enough to reveal bored amethyst eyes and striking pink hair. He glances at you, then scowls and sniffs disdainfully before lifting his magazine again.
Westwood crosses his arms and grins. “Isn’t that right, Anasui?”
