Summary
The war was over. Sasuke was still an idiot, but they were mostly getting over that. Everyone else was just trying to get back to some semblance of normalcy in the era after facing the Juubi and losing so much. Hatake Kakashi never wanted to be Hokage, but that's what he became. With that comes enemies.
During an ambush, Naruto jumps in front of a jutsu that would tear his former sensei's soul from his body. The jutsu begins to tear Kurama away instead. In a desperate bid to save both his and Naruto's life, Kurama does something almost as unpredictable as his host. He tries to send them back in time a day. This would have worked fine, except Kurama might have...overshot things a bit.
Oh, wow, is that a chibi Naruto running around? What year is it again?
Jiraiya begins hearing rumors of a man called the "Lost Uzumaki" that has made a seismic debut on the shinobi world stage. The only thing is that S-class nin don't just pop out of nowhere...usually. Jiraiya is sent to track down the nin and determine his loyalties. His new life depends on a good impression. But did the Sandaime hear him? No, because the Sandaime wasn’t Minato-sensei and the old man never listened to him. And he went ahead with the brilliant idea of saddling him with his dead sensei’s son, Itachi’s little brother, and a kunoichi who was so much a cannon fodder that she had a literal target on her bright red dress.
He would not be blamed for the shitshow that was about to start.

Nova was an actor, a famous one at that. When he was younger, it was because he needed the money. As he got older, it was because it became a necessity to survive. If a role demanded he know piano, he learned piano. If a role demanded he be able to lift his feet above his head, gymnastic classes were paid for. Whatever his role required, he was forced to bend for it. Acting was a safe haven he had sought when he was a child, as an adult—it became hell.
It was surprise, however, when he opened his eyes in a world he watched as a cartoon when he was a kid. It was even more of a surprise when he passed out not long after.
The one who brought him to this world asked him to play a role. He was used to acting, used to putting on a persona for an audience. That... wasn't required, however. His role wasn't one of changing himself. It was the role of a guardian. Uzumaki Nova was his new name, and he wasn't even sure what his favorite color was, let alone how to look after a child and a clan.

A sandwich or something would be nice. He still wouldn't do their bidding anyway but it's the thought that counts. The one time he mentioned this to the league they offered him a child. Well. If they're offering Danny's gonna get the kid out of there. I mean really. Who in their right mind would offer him a child without laying out parameters. It was insulting really.
"Do you have another place to go, kid?" "My father is Bruce Wayne" "Lol, wacky. I'll drop you off with him then." Danny sticks around because the Waynes are pretty cool, and Damian is very clingy.

Hatake Kakashi doesn't want a genin team. ANBU Hound can protect the village well enough, and he didn't have to deal with things like emotions.
Kakashi already had plenty of things keep his mind off his numerous failures. Like S- rank missions, or A-rank missions, or occasionally socializing with an algorithmically selected friend group whenever the Psych department started to question his fitness for the field, or even a B-rank mission when he wanted to relax.
Things are fine - could a depressed person spend 70% of their time reading jutsu theory and refining their abilities, trying to fill their never-ending loneliness with studying and rationality?

Hiruzen gives him a team anyway. Fuck.Or
How I’d write Naruto given that the Elemental Nations are all authoritarian military dictatorships, trauma is real, and Kakashi’s only coping skill is being better than everybody else. Ft. A Frankly Excessive Amount of Worldbuilding.
