He had been so alone for so long, and then, in that complete, glorious year, after Sherrinford, after Eurus, he had been with Molly. Molly Hooper. So much time had been wasted, but then nothing had mattered because they had eventually collided at the same time, in the same place, with the same heart. It was miraculous, like the sun coming out on a frozen winter morning and lighting up the world. They seemed to step effortlessly from a realisation of love, to her moving into Baker Street into his bed, his kitchen, his (apparently) appalling habits, and absorbed into every molecule of his world.
But nothing stays the same and nothing should be taken for granted. -

Summary
When Rupert ends up in hospital, there are two options. Either Taggie does as Taggie wants, and helps him recover at Penscombe, or Rupert comes to the Priory, where Declan can keep an eye on them both. Neither option is ideal, but if having Taggie home over Christmas means having Rupert too, then so be it.
If God exists, he is laughing at Declan.

Sherlock is tired.
John senses a shift.◒
“I’m tired, John,” He murmurs. Barely a whisper. John swallows, feeling irrationally helpless.
“I can see that,” He responds quietly, tracing an eyebrow with the pad of his thumb. “Sleep, then,” He can hear the crack in his own voice—a perfect match for the one in his chest. He hopes that Sherlock won’t notice, won’t try to pick it all apart.
“Not what I meant,” He rumbles, as he drifts off and away, leaving John alone in wakefulness to wonder what the hell had just happened.
