“Woah,” Will whispers to himself incredulously, laughing a little under his breath as he shuffles through the pages of the letter again. He can’t help but admire the smooth, off-white stationery, its pleasant weight in his hands. A serious-looking “MJW” watermark adorns the top of each page, totally at odds with the entertaining missive and its author’s garbled cursive. Will laughs quietly to himself again. What sixteen-year-old boy on earth has monogrammed stationery?

Mike Wheeler is insecure, even by normal teenage standards. So when his friend, Max, connects him with her old friend from California, he's surprised by how easily they get along. Summary
When Will came out, he was relieved to be accepted by the people closest to him, especially Mike, and especially after Will made it clear to Mike that he was his crush. It was just a silly, stupid crush that really wasn’t about Mike at all. The best part is, Will got over it quickly, and they were able to laugh it off and remain friends. Things have been solid since he let those feelings go. That dumb high school bullshit is in the past. Their friendship is far too important to dwell on a crush that is doomed to be unreciprocated.
Imagine Will’s surprise when he catches Mike in a Chicago gay bar making out with another man.
Turns out, Mike is gay. So, what now? What is he supposed to do with this information? More importantly, what does that mean for them?
Friends? No thanks.
Best friends.

Summary
After applying to work at Scoops Ahoy over the summer, Max had found herself holed up in Scoops Ahoy with Mike Wheeler for 7 hours a day, 4 days a week. Eventually, the two warm up to each other, even enough for Max to consider Mike her best friend. Although they are closer than ever before, Max still hasn't touched on any of Mike's darker thoughts or experiences, which led her to believe that he didn't have any.
As they experience the wrath of terrifying Soviet officers while hundreds of metres underneath Starcourt mall, Max learns that there is more to Mike Wheeler than she had previously thought.

There’s something wrong with Will.
It started three weeks ago, almost four. Will had woken from some sort of nightmare and, instead of seeking comfort in Mike the way he usually would, he’d rolled out a sleeping bag from the closet and chosen to sleep on the floor.
No one believes Mike, except for Joyce. But even she doesn’t understand the full extent to which something is wrong with Will.
Mike understands, though. Mike has been paying attention.

When Max is sent away for a month for advanced out of state hospital treatment, Lucas is left with way too much time and way too many feelings. So when he notices the unresolved tension simmering between Will and Mike, he decides to do something about it. But before he can even process what that truly entails, he’s already knee deep in secrets, feelings, and “friendships” that are a lot more complicated than he signed up for.
OR: What starts as a distraction from missing Max turns into the most complicated plan of Lucas’s life as he shifts from helping Will get over Mike to setting them up together (because he’s the bestest, most supportive friend ever, obviously!)

Mike gazed out over the lake as they steadied the boat, sitting down on the old, splintered planks which served as benches. The gate ripped like fire across the water. The authorities had long since stopped placing security alongside the entire edge of the tear in the earth. It just sat, smoldering, hellish. Somehow gravity played into this whole thing, and the water of the lake… hadn’t fallen through the gate.
The beach they pushed off from was actually oddly tranquil.
Will grabbed the paddles. “God, we should’ve at least left a note or something-”
“Will.” Mike said seriously. “You can go back if you want. I wouldn’t blame you.”
“No, no, I- it’s just bad in there, Mike.”
What had he been thinking? Mike suddenly felt incredibly guilty. Pulling Will back into the Upside Down after what’d happened-
“Shit, Will. I didn’t even think,” Mike said anxiously. “If you-”
Will looked him dead in the eyes. “Absolutely not. I'm not going anywhere.” He began shrugging off his jacket.
Mike’s heart did something funny in his chest. “Cool.”

Summary
Today did not go how Mike expected. He anticipated just another Friday boys' night without Will - boring and long, where he spent most of the time in his own head, wishing Will was there with him. Instead, he'd come out to two of his best friends. And revealed his massive, huge, scarily intense crush on Will, which, apparently, wasn't news to them at all. What a night.
Despite himself, he wished Will could have been there. He wished he could talk to Will about these things. He wanted to tell his best friend about his crush. But he couldn't. Because his best friend and his crush just so happened to be the same person.

This is something that, probably, someone with more objectivity on the situation than Mike would categorize as not normal. Personally, though, Mike isn’t all that pressed. Not when it’s so undeniably pleasant. He’s fine being abnormal about Will if it means not ruining this for himself.
After a few minutes, Will props himself up on one elbow, looking at Mike with sudden urgency. “Mike,” he says, blinking slowly at him, and Mike pauses the show again, arching an eyebrow at him.
“Yes?”
Will grins, all crooked and boyish and brilliant in the soft glow of the living room lamplight. “Let’s make out.”the one where they're exes who still kiss sometimes, but not, like, in a weird way.

Will squints, just barely, lips curling up in amusement. It takes Mike an excruciatingly long time to detect what exactly Will thinks of this matter, but what comes out is soft, mellow, and not particularly to Mike’s enjoyment: "That's kind of cute."
“It is not,” Mike hisses, and Will shoots him a grin. “She always talks about you, always giggles whenever you talk to her, and because she's like, incredibly adorable, and you’re so good with kids, I'm going to be trailing behind you guys like an absolute loser because she totally hogs you.”
"Wait," Will blurts, brows drawing close. "Are you jealous?"
Mike Wheeler is many things, but he is never jealous.

“Whoa ,” Mike says, voice hoarse and writhed with sleep, grasping the arm of Will’s sweater with impressive force, in his dream-like quality. Will doesn’t remember when he began slipping off the side of the roof. “Will, — Will,” Mike murmurs, and Will melts at the sheer familiarity of his name on Mike’s mouth, “come inside. You’ll hurt yourself.”
His heels won't move from where they’ve dug into the roof, despite Mike’s persistent tugging. All at once, he’s washed over with guilt. He shouldn’t be here. He’ll hurt him.
“Please,” Mike adds, the single syllable addictive and slow, like honey.
It’s embarrassing how fast Will folds.
Will wakes from a nightmare on the other side of town. He finds going home is easier said than done.

Summary
Immediately post-Season 4, the gang are catching up and reuniting at Hopper's old cabin. Mike, who's been on the edge of a panic attack for the past few days, excuses himself to get some 'fresh air'- unbeknownst to anyone but Joyce, who still isn't fully up-to-date on the Vecna situation. After about 30 minutes, the group notices his absence and are immediately concerned. They can't find Mike anywhere in the surrounding area, but they find the exact thing they were dreading; a small gate.
Mike finds himself in the Upside-Down, but the circumstances are strange. Vecna is nowhere to be seen and the area around him is completely barren. It's an elaborate plot to torment Mike with his greatest fears; forcing him to relive his own worst memories with his family and friends by his side.
How much could one kid have to hide, anyways?

Nancy hated Will Byers. It was a little unfair, but she didn’t have any other word to describe it. She couldn’t stand the sight of him, whenever she’d turn a corner in her own home and see him standing so calm with a huge grin it rattled her with anger. She hated hearing him talking and laughing through the cracks in the wall, she hated whenever he knocked on the front door or called on the phone.
Mike hated Jonathan Byers. He had always been nice to him, he had given him rides and bought him tickets to rated R movies. But Mike still hated him. He hated when he stayed for dinner and when he saw him holding Nancy’s hand under the table, he hated when his parents talked about their bright future together.
