"Did you hear who got transferred to the 3rd Platoon squad leadership?" a recruit two seats down muttered under his breath, his voice trembling slightly. "Sergeant Kim. Kim Hongjoong."
A collective, barely audible gasp rippled through the row. Seonghwa kept his gaze pinned forward, but his ears pricked up involuntarily.
"The 'Demon Sergeant'?" another recruit whispered back, his voice cracking. "The one from the frontline border unit? I heard he handed out extra night-guard duties to an entire squad because a single bootlace wasn't tucked into a combat boot."
"God, please no," someone prayed softly. "Please put me in the 1st Platoon. Put me anywhere else."
Seonghwa prayed with them silently. But as his name was called out...
"Park Seonghwa!"
"Squad 2, 3rd Platoon. Report to Barracks 302. Squad Leader: Sergeant Kim Hongjoong."
...he knew he was doomed.

Or, well, he was a vigilante. He used to be an unseen hero, illegal but still good, saving the world one robbery at a time. But those glory days are all past gone, and all the people he knew from those days are out of his life.

They were standing outside of Hongjoong’s bedroom and because the hall was small they were standing close, making the conversation feel private.
“No, no, that won’t be necessary,” said Hongjoong. “The big issue we have is that for the past three heats, Seonghwa has become practically feral. He doesn’t let anyone touch him or come near him, making it very difficult to take care of him and as a result his heats are more painful than they should.”
Or: Wooyoung work consists in staying at a pack house until he solves their personal problems. He has become great at it and is proud to say he is one of the best. However, to help the next pack, the Kim pack, he will have to put into use everything he learned.

Summary
The day was suppose to go by as normal as every other day, however the world ended and it didn't do so quietly.
Far from the city, deep within an isolated forest, two escaped a lab soaked in blood, adrenaline and instincts pulling them away to save themselves.
The next day, the infection spread without warning, one scream turned into hundreds and more, cities and streets dissolving into chaos as people fled from neighbours who no longer were the same. In the first few hours, survival became instinct.
One, trapped in locked traffic with two of his friends.
One ran for his life through screaming crowds after escaping a bus turned slaughterhouse.
One's speed helped him vanished away from the train stations.
One more fought his way through the streets with nothing but strength and reflexes.
In the next few weeks, the world did not recover. Small groups formed, some broke apart and some vanished. Supplies became currency for those holding onto survival, trust became a risk too.
Eventually, different paths crossed all at once.

OR Seonghwa always thought he was nothing more than a street rat, a thief living off pick pocketing and stealing from local vendors. All of that changes when he tries to pick pocket the infamous pirate captain Kim Hongjoong, who then reveals to him the matching birthmark. Which is supposed to lead them to a treasure that the captain has been hunting for, for years.
However, legends are always told differently, and a darker fate awaits the two.
