Summary
It’s 1962, and John Lennon is certain of the future.
The band is rising, the world is opening up, and Paul is right beside him through it all.
Next thing he knows, he’s waking up ten years later in a white, silent apartment called the Dakota. He’s still twenty-two, still himself but apparently not the only John Lennon in existence.
The Beatles are over, there are lawsuits being filled and songs causing wounds. And Paul won’t stay on the phone long enough to make whatever has happened right again.
Now, George and Ringo are left dealing with a younger John who doesn’t understand how he ever let it all go this wrong.

Ringo watches him bristle at every last piece of the last decade, and mutters, almost to himself,
“I forgot how bad it was. He really couldn’t stand the thought of Paul without him.”
“Wait ‘till he sees him playing with Wings.” George grimaces, half amused, half wary. -

Agrippa finds her again when his head hits the pillow at night, sprawled out in the bathhouse, her form filling up the tiled alcove from head to toe, a length of crooks and curves undulating lazily within a warm veil of steam. He fits his head into the space between her neck and shoulder, his knee brushing the pale hair on her crotch, buried beneath her heavy thighs, drawn inwards to accommodate Agrippa’s weight in her lap. Muffled chuckles vibrate through Agrippa’s lips as his fingers trace faded scars on her belly. White networks of wet, bubbling soap cling to the undersides of her breasts, and he cranes his neck to suck one nipple into his mouth, toying with it’s golden ring with the tip of his tongue, a bitter, herbal taste.
He wakes up with his cheek flat on the pillow, dark curls obscuring his vision alongside the crumbs in his eyes. His mouth is dry, his crotch a dewy mess.

Marcus leans forward and presses his mouth to Antony’s, effectively shutting him up. He feels Antony hesitate, for the first time ever, in touching him. Something about it makes Marcus’s heart ache and he pulls away to breathe. “Touch me,” Marcus says and Antony does, fingers following the curve of his ribs and the slope of his hips.
Antony conquered Gaul like this, too, Marcus thinks as he drifts to sleep.

The older one looked at him finally. Marcus was sitting in his bed, out of his festival garments and accessories, still damp hair from sweat and a simple blue tunic. “You will get sick, it is cold.” He said to try to change the subject. “Put on something longer.”
Marcus knew what he was doing, he leaned back even more to the pillows and didn’t tear his silver eyes from Caesar’s hazels for a minute. “You know I always have wanted the crown for you.” He said as he dismissed everything Caesar said just now. “I have no desire to be king, never had, too tedious for me. But you…”
Marcus got off the bed and walked to him. “Oh you… You would be perfect for it. Your intelligence, your kindness, your charisma, your success…” He cupped Caesar’s cheek with his warm hand. “Is it so wrong to see you where you deserve to be at?”
