He set Baja Blast down with a white chicken, Madame Clucks. She went back right to pecking away at the grass.
Harvey set his hands on his hips as he looked around. Even out here, he couldn’t see the farmer. Okay, how he was worried. His hands fidgeted anxiously as he stumbled in his loafers through the soft dirt to the coop door. If they weren’t in here, he’d have to check the other barns. And if they weren’t in the barns, he’d have to call Marnie or Shane, or, Yoba forbid, Marlon at the Adventurer’s Guild, just in case they really had slipped off to the mines without telling him. But what if they weren’t in the mines? He’d have to call- Yoba, who could he call? Everyone? Ask if they’ve seen the farmer around today? It wasn’t even 8am, nobody would be up and about to know if they’d gone through town.
He pushed open the door, a bit harder than he meant to as some chickens lingering inside bawk’d and spooked away, leaving feathers in their wake. He couldn’t even focus on that. His eyes immediately landed on the figure sitting on the chest by the mayonnaise machine. They were hunched over and holding their head.

Summary
The agent in front of him feels a stab of guilt at the plight of the trickster. Watching him heartbroken behind the screen in the time theatre and watching that defeated expression, in reality, is far more jarring for Mobius than he’d anticipated. He knows as the final reel stuck on the grey screen that Loki has seen it all. He’s seen his mother’s death ー something he was not supposed to see. Mobius wants to comfort him, the urge to pull the variant into his arms is novel and strong. But he also knows it would not be well received. He wants to say something, anything, to draw out the persona that Loki has hidden beneath layers and layers of self-loathing, hate, trickery, mischief, and pessimism. Everything carefully curated over time, all justifying his actions.

Loki would have done anything to save his friends for that catastrophe, even spend centuries learning physics and engineering that were almost totally incomprehensible. Sadly it didn't take long until he started developing impassable doubts and an heartbreaking loneliness; luckily he could count on a slice of key lime pie and a sweet friend.

“What the shit are you doing?”
Now, without the rush of adrenaline, Loki can see the true meaning behind the words. Mobius wasn’t doubting him, he was worried. He wanted him to stop. To take a moment. Maybe to explain what was going on, but they get the message this time. After all, he thinks he can have the luxury of stealing a moment to time after centuries of working himself breathless.
“Honestly? You’re so right.”
Mobius doesn’t frown all the way before Loki timeslips again.

Summary
There is one voice that stands out against all else though, one that his brain instinctively singles out and latches on to before even forming the thought of why it is doing it. Loki feels a hand on his face, careful, warm hand, the fingers barely grazing his skin before he leans into it slightly, instinctively. Safe. It feels safe.
"Found you."
After a long time in a cold, lonely void, a god is saved by his knight in shining armor.
