And as they sink to the bottom legs tied together they change slowly until they can breathe, until they can use their tied up legs to swim. And they drown sailors in revenge, luring them in by singing in their husky voices still stinging from the salt water they breathed."
It's not an entire book, but I was certainly inspired.

There’s a reason that stupid drug trip had Stolas up on that white and gold pedestal, perfect and powerful and unattainable and the closest thing to Heaven that he would ever reach. But this is anything but heavenly, anything but white and gold and full of light and clean and gorgeous; this is the darkness crawled out of the underbelly of the hellscape they’re doomed to and given life- red and black and dark and dripping gore on the floor, terrifying but still so gorgeous, still so, so gorgeous.
