They gravitated towards Zuko whenever the temperature dipped even slightly. At night, he often woke to someone pulling their bedroll towards him, or slipping under his arm, or turning over in their sleep and colliding with his shoulder.
It alarmed him, at first. It had never been a good thing when someone woke him in the dead of the night.
It was strange, then, that he was on the run without Uncle, officially a traitor to his homeland, and for the first time since his mother left, he woke in the night sandwiched between bodies, feeling safe.
(Zuko becomes the group's heat-pack.)

Perhaps her coffee was taking too long to cool, or her eyes were in a wandering mood, but Himeko found herself fixated on the broad planes of the man’s back, drawing lower to his slim waist, framed by the suit vest cinched tightly around it. She took a hurried sip, promptly burning her tongue, keeping her from staring. Himeko coughed into her fist, pressing a hand against her chest to quell the spluttering.
The man peered over his shoulder, raising a brow as he chopped fruit for a cocktail. “Too bitter, now?”
Himeko pressed her lips into a flat line, promptly embarrassed. She braced her hand against the counter. “Just a–” a cough squeezed between her words, “–little hot.” When the coughing fit subsided, Himeko briefly wondered how high the probability was of an Aeon suddenly rousing to strike her down in anger, if only to spare her of her mortification. But the elusive bartender only chuckled, rusty like a tool left to oxidize after years of use—even that was attractive, Himeko thought belligerently—placing water in front of her. “Easy, now.”
Or, the coffee isn’t up to Himeko’s tastes, but the one who serves it sure is.

“Wonderful. Then, we want a marriage contract between Princess Katara—” Katara doesn't miss the way she says princess mockingly, “—And crown Prince Zuko.”
Her whole body freezes.
Did she hear that right?
Katara’s eyes widen and everything goes silent. Her heart thuds violently in her chest, blood rushing to her ears. She can't see, can't hear, can't think—
There was no way—
She couldn't, and wouldn't marry Zuko.
She surmises the snow really does bring impending doom, in one way or another. Maybe it's a sign of how her future marriage to Zuko will be — doomed."

Dan Heng would never in a million years voice this to her, nor can he imagine how someone as great as her can feel satisfied relating to a man with many unspoken regrets like him, but he’d be lying through clenched teeth to try and deny that he would sacrifice every single thing that completes him just to have the chance to dote on her like the most glorious creation to walk upon vast land.
Whether or not Stelle reciprocates his undeclared affection like he's hopelessly wished for so long, Dan Heng is certain she could never fall as hard as he has.
