He growled. “There's no fear!” He wasn't afraid! He was just... yes, what? What was he? Pathetic? Yes, absolutely. There was no question about that. Prince of Kremnos. Traded like a cheap trophy. Like a common whore. He was worth little more than the dirt on the street. Pathetic… “I'm not afraid,” he repeated. More to himself than to the other. Damn, even he could hear how damn weak his voice sounded.
The warm fingers that had just been wrapped around his closed trembling hands now wandered to his face, cupping his cheek, patting it gently. “Mydeimos... I'm not here to... to take your dignity.”
Dignity?
Did he even have any left?
Hadn't his father clearly shown that he had already taken it away from him?
“Then what for?” he asked, his throat constricted. He could hardly breathe. Why was Phainon here, if not to claim his prize?
“Your father... he... he has to go.”

“I brought you to a wisteria house,” Sabito replies. “I mean, you’re wearing the uniform of the Demon Slaying Corps, so I figured it’d be okay.”
Giyū blinks at Sabito slowly. He’d been expecting an answer more along the lines of “the afterlife” or “purgatory.”
“Anyway, I’m Sabito,” Sabito continues, and Giyū feels more and more lost with every word. “Although you probably know me as the Water Pillar.”
(Or: A convenient demon blood technique sends Giyū to a timeline where he's dead and Sabito's alive.)

Summary
Xiao is the crowned prince of Liyue and the only heir to the throne. One day, while on a trip to a village with his father, King Morax, Xiao meets a boy with blond hair named Aether. After Xiao safes Aether from a thug, Aether helps Xiao in return and they soon become friends. But because of the differences in their social status, it proves to be a challenge. However, they make sure to keep their promise to each other, even if they don’t see each other every day.
Then on Xiao’s 21st birthday, he notices one the dancers at the party had long blond hair. In a trance Xiao moves closer only to realize that the dancer none other than Aether, his best friend.
Xiao is star-struck over Aether as he danced in front of the crowd, his eyes never leaving him. After the party, Aether vanishes and Xiao quickly tracks him down and asks him to stay with him in his palace, not realizing the challenges they face together. Aether reluctantly accepts the offer and soon befriends many of the palace staff, and finds new adventures with Xiao where over time their relationship grows far beyond being friends.
But Xiao is keeping a secret from Aether...One that may destroy their future together.
