Jax is trying to keep everyone at arm’s length, but they just won’t stop reaching and every hand feels like it’s closing around his throat.
Pomni is still adjusting to her own digital existence as she tries to hang on to those she cares about, and Caine’s increasingly strange behavior isn’t really helping. She isn’t the only one starting to notice that their ringmaster AI has more beneath his perpetual showman’s smile than they’d ever thought to even look for.
How do you even make an AI understand that you can’t love something into stability? That love is the very thing breaking it?
Well, the humans are going to try anyway.

Summary
Pomni had known they needed Caine. Even after everything he’d done, he was still the glue that held the circus together.
They did need him.
They had managed to find a gap in the void, a corner tucked away from what Pomni had seen the one time she’d managed to see the empty expanse of greys and alabaster. In that gap was the console Kinger had originally used to try and alter Caine’s code; he’d managed to salvage as much as he could before it’d been fully deleted, but Caine didn’t spawn where he’d been deleted like they’d expected. He was nowhere to be found in the circus proper.
That only left the void.
All they had to do was find him.
One by one, the others got lost in the void. Pomni wasn’t sure how or why—she just had to believe that once she’d found Caine, everything would be okay.
They’d all make it home together, with Caine.

When the Infection ended without explanation, the Dreamers arose from their slumber, and the land of Hallownest began to drag itself back to life, Hornet knew there would be troubles yet to come. With most resources scarce, many of the surviving bugs left disabled by the disease, and the vast majority of agricultural infrastructure devastated, Hallownest may yet be undone: not by a higher being, but the mortal logistics of hunger. When scouts from Pharloom arrive and attempt to capture a Weaverling, Hornet sees an opportunity to turn what could be another disaster into a chance for Hallownest to recover.
Pharloom is, as always, starved for Silk. When the Grand Mother's wayward daughters are located, under the protection of a Wyrm, forcibly reclaiming them would be dangerous. Fortunately, Hallownest is willing to offer up its Weaver princess for marriage in exchange for supplies that can easily be spared. Accompanied only by her silent knight, such a creature will surely be vulnerable to the manipulations of Pharloom's court.

When a mysterious voice begins to haunt Hornet and the still recovering Hollow Knight in their dreams, they go to the Abyss searching truth.
The good news: little Ghost survived after all and even became a god.
The bad news: somehow the Pale King is back from the dead.
The even worse news: the voice comes back to haunt them and tells them to travel beyond the borders of Hallownest to seek the Locusts - a nomadic tribe of ill repute. Since the voice refuses to leave them alone, they pack their bags and go on that perilous journey.
But how will they make it there all the way through ruins and deserts?
How will they find a tribe constantly on the move?
What will await them there?
And will the Pale Children be able to reconcile with their father?
