A guilty tendril curls through her. She swallows it down, and finds her voice. "I have done no such thing."

Sauron enjoys the trust of Vice-Council Morgoth and has just managed to arrest one of the most wanted leaders of the resistance movement, known as the Underground, Finrod Noldor. Today, he will have the honour of participating in his annihilation in the city furnaces. However, to achieve complete success, he must still find his sister Galadriel Noldor and bring her into the presence of the Father.

Their journey takes them from the wilds of Middle Earth to the homes of the Valar and back again, changing the course of Arda's history as Mairon attempts to heal himself and Middle Earth.

After the end of it all, ages after, Galadriel is called to Aman where a prisoner dwells in the shadows. A prisoner whose trial is at last approaching. And he will talk to one alone: Galadriel.
Galadriel must devise three trials to put Sauron through to prove he is worthy of redemption - and failure is not an option. After the first two trials were less than a success, Galadriel has to pull out all the stops for the third and she does not like it, at all. For the third trial will not only test Sauron but her as well. Because for this most crucial one, she will have to live through a time where when Sauron asks her to join him, she tells him yes.

A few days after Sauron stabbed her with Morgoth's Crown in Eregion, Galadriel sensed a profound shift within herself. A dark power seemed to grow, though she dared not exploit it, fearful of what might unfold if she did. Strange dreams plagued her, and she was constantly aware of his presence—haunting her mind and heart, taunting and tempting her. She knew he had done something to her, something far worse than the wound that would never heal. She had told him the door was shut, but there was no door Sauron could not break open.
Then, one day, she awoke not in her bed in Lindon, but in a place from her past. Sauron stood there, smiling, waiting for her to enter the labyrinth. Would she ever be able to navigate its treacherous paths?

“We should stay focused on the difficult journey ahead,” she whispered. “Distractions during the upcoming battle could be fatal.” This venture was only an expedition but would likely turn into something much deadlier.
“That is tomorrow’s concern, which I will treat with utmost seriousness and urgency,” Halbrand vowed. “But what of tonight?” He asked in a low voice, his lips hovering just above hers.
Galadriel could hardly breathe. And could think of no more excuses to not reach for what her heart greatly desired.

“I asked for a handsome reward in exchange for Finrod Felagund’s life,” the man called out across the distance. He was tall, though not as tall as her brother, and dressed in swathes of black and grey, a loose hood shielding most of his face and hair from sight. “What do you bring me in exchange for him?”
“Galadriel, no—” Finrod began, but Galadriel cut him off.
“—Myself,” she answered his call, though it did not sound as assuring out loud as it had sounded to her before she left her home to make this perilous journey to come save her brother.
The black-robed figure chuckled in response. It started low, but it reached the distance all the way toward her. He grasped Finrod by the neck of his tunic, yanking him back. “What would I do with you?” he threw back at her. “You’re hardly a fair exchange for the warrior I hold in my grasp.”
During the First Age, the War of Wrath changes course. On the island of Tol-in-Gaurhoth, the Isle of Werewolves and one of Sauron’s former strongholds, is the seat of the Necromancer’s power. Instead of sending his wolves out to kill Finrod after capturing Felagund in his dungeons, Sauron demands an exchange for his life. Galadriel offers herself.

He was silent for a moment. She heard his cloak rustle, the sound of his hand grasp one of the bars. The gentle tap of his rings against the metal filled her ears, and she shut her eyes.
“When you denied an alliance with me, I found other means of quenching my thirst.”
“For violence and depravity?” she shot back.
“For vengeance,” he hissed. “Just as you sought yours. Keep your righteousness to yourself. I care not for it. These Men, these Númenóreans, fought against me in the Great War. Slew countless lives. With their pride and their arrogance in their mighty goodness. They thought they were better than the rest of us as you yourself believed you were better than me.” His voice dropped to a whisper. “I wanted to see them suffer. I have achieved so much more than that.”
During Ar-Pharazôn’s rule of Númenor when Sauron holds the position of the High Priest of Melkor, Galadriel is captured in the middle of a war, imprisoned, and handed over to him as a sacrifice to be made in the Temple of the High Priest, but Sauron has other plans. From Akallabêth to the founding of Gondor, unlikely allies are forged.

Galadriel couldn’t help but watch in fascination. The man groveled at Morgoth’s feet, worshiping him. But there was no shame in him. There was only need and the means to have his need fulfilled. Galadriel felt her chest tighten and her legs begin to quiver. She knew she should look away but she couldn’t. Her mouth had gone very dry.
