"This is true, sometimes it is a whole minute."
Hollander gives him a shove. "You know what, maybe I don't want to fuck after all—"
"No, no, is okay, I am only teasing," Ilya says soothingly. He presses their hips flush together, biting back a groan to find Hollander is just as hard as he is. "Is very hot, that you cannot control yourself around me."
A shadow of uncertainty passes over Hollander's face. "I want to. Control myself." His tongue darts out to wet his lower lip. "So if I get close, I need you to stop."

I do not even like doing my hair but she will kill me if I ever step out of my house with big, frizzy bush. Long hair would be so much work, I think."
Shane laughs softly. His eyes drift back up to Ilya's curls, his fingers raking through them again and again. He's currently making it a frizzy bush, but they have nowhere to be today.
"I think it would look good if you did," Shane says softly. "I think you'd look good no matter what."

Cliff doesn’t know what he expected Ilya’s initial reaction to be, but it’s definitely not the look that ends up landing on his face. Ilya gawks at Cliff as if he had just suggested replacing their drinks with a pipe bomb instead, his eyes wide and brows furrowed with bewildered disbelief.
“What?” Ilya blurts out flatly.
“Hollander. He’s pretty”, Cliff reiterates with an easy shrug. “Y’know, for a dude.”
“You think Hollander is pretty?”
Cliff frowns. “I mean, yeah? Don’t you?”
Cliff Marleau has an inkling that his good friend Ilya Rozanov might just swing both ways, and he’s determined to let Ilya know that he’s an ally, be it by continuously mentioning his lesbian sister – who he once shared a womb with so y’know, they’re close – or by acknowledging that Shane Hollander is, objectively, very pretty.
Cliff doesn’t expect the latter to land him in a threesome with two of the best players in the MLH but hey, despite the mild sexuality crisis that it manifests, he’s not mad about it.

There was an outraged noise behind him, but Ilya was already turning away, knowing he was never going to find a better parting shot in English than that.
Ilya could see exactly why other players were so frustrated when going up against Shane Hollander, and how much his comments might sting when directed at someone who was already on the back foot. But he was left with the distinct impression of a colourful little bird, darting about where he believed he was just out of reach, and Ilya wanted more than anything to catch him.
According to the rest of the league, Shane Hollander was an asshole, but Ilya thought he was kind of hilarious. Plus, there were all the freckles.

Ilya purses his lips. Lets out a long breath.
“No,” he replies, softly. That earns him a bleary look from Shane, whose brows are knitted together again.
“What do you mean, no?”
“I mean, I fuck you right here, or I don’t fuck you at all.”
In the heat of late spring, Shane turns 31. Ilya finds a way to bridge the gap between fantasy and reality.
