Summary
It’s a ritual of sorts.
A few years after he arrived in hell, Rosie taught him a few ways to make Demonic flesh taste better and it’s not so different from other kinds of animals, really.
One of the ways and one he’s familiar with from his days as a hunter, is to make sure the game doesn’t stress before the kill so the muscles don't tense. A clean shot, if possible, a quick death after injury if not.
The other method is to provide the (un)willing victim some quality food and enrichment before its ultimate demise. Playing the long game before cutting into it to obtain its flesh, before carving to the bones and festing on those, too.
Rosie does love the long game.

Summary
"So," Husk began, coming to a halt to the left of the deer demon. "What's all the fuss about?"
The Radio Demon's head snapped back to face him, neck cracking. "Why, it's a pleasure to see you as always, dear Husker!" He grinned, razor sharp teeth on full display. "It seems our dear Princess is pursuing a rather silly endeavor." He answered, hands gesturing to the television dramatically, eyes darting back to follow.
Husk barked out a laugh. "She wants to get demons sent to Heaven?" He questioned incredulously, paw coming up to cover his mouth as he giggled.
Alastor's smile only grew at Husk's apparent agreement and to the hilarity of the situation. "It's truly baffling, isn't it?" A rowdy laugh track could be heard from his radio.
(What if Husk never sold his soul to Alastor, and remained an Overlord to this day?)

“Hi, Amami,” Kaito responds. He sounds a little breathless, almost winded, like he’s been running. It wakes Rantaro up a little. Sweeping his hand through his hair, Rantaro prepares to respond with more concern, but Kaito beats him to the punch: “So uh, I dunno how to put this. We’re dating now.”
Of all the things Rantaro had been revving himself up to hear, that can go in maybe the bottom one thousand. “Excuse me?”
“Yeah, uhh—wait, shit. What time is it over there? Should I call you back?”
Rantaro stares over at the blinking red numbers of the hotel room’s alarm clock, which now read 3:06AM. After a pause to weigh his curiosity and his body’s natural need for sleep, Rantaro eventually responds, “I can last through a short phone call. I think I should be telling you to buy me dinner first, but it sounds as though that’s already happened?”

In the heat of the moment, to get out of rejecting a love confession, Kaito tells Maki that he's gay and dating someone he barely knows: Amami Rantaro. He comes up with a simple plan of action for getting himself out of it... but of course, life is rarely simple.

Summary
That being Kaito, who usually shows up to breakfast a little late, who Rantaro sometimes sees on solo walks around the facility, his head hunched and his shoulders drawn in. It should be a foreign look on Kaito, who always stood with his head held high back in the simulation, but there’s a quiet familiarity about it to Rantaro. Sometimes, when Kaito thinks nobody else is looking, he’ll smirk in response to something Kokichi has said, and Rantaro’s heart will give an obnoxious pulse in his chest, like, I know that smile. I know him. I’ve known him all my life.
Which is stupid. Obviously Rantaro doesn’t know Kaito or his smiles or anything else about the man, but still… in a world full of strangers, full of things that Rantaro might have done but doesn’t know for sure and people Rantaro knows who might be real but probably aren’t… it’s nice to know with certainty, even just for a moment, that someone matters to him. Even if that someone is a stranger now.

After the game, Rantaro can't shake the feeling that he knew Kaito once before.
