"Caine was gone.
"It had been quick, the deletion. Jax hadn’t even realized it until Kinger had walked up to all of them and told them the news. Seeing him go had been odd; one second he was there, full of pent up rage and bruised ego, and the next he had just.. Disappeared.
"Jax was supposed to be happy, wasn’t he? The pain, the torture, all of those cruel adventures were over. But throwing the AI in the trash bin once and for all didn’t feel any more like a win than it did a stalemate.
"The circus had dimmed and parts had fallen apart, all until the place had looked like a toxic wasteland: bleak and devoid of color. ‘Finally,” Jax tried to crack a joke to himself, maybe because he couldn’t bear the gaping quiet standing in the room and needed someone to make it seem better. ‘An exterior that represents its true colors.’
"Frankly, Jax didn’t know what to do. None of them did".

After Episode 8, Jax abstracts. He's confused when he wakes up to a very much alive Caine congratulating him on being the newest member of the circus.

Summary
Jax finally did it. He apologized to everyone! But that's obviously not enough to change anything. Especially when the apology sounded so... disingenuously.
The fan-favorite asshole must be punished for his crimes. The circus members decided that the silent treatment is better than jail. Now Jax can't speak to others, or even hear them, at least until they forgive him. With time and effort, he can work his way through to earn their forgiveness and break the punishment's spell.
Well, in theory it sounds great, but it is Jax we are talking about. What do you mean he can't talk with others? What do you mean there is no audience for his snarky comments? What do you mean he has to befriend people to be able to speak with them again???
He actually wished they would've thrown him into a wacky jail instead.

It would be better if you read it first, but it's not completely necessary to understand the plot. Kinger and Jax relationship is established in the previous part though and you might want to take a look at that before you start reading this.

"Are... are you asking me why a wall is a wall?" That threw him enough that the mask dropped for a moment, his face shifting into one of pure confusion. "I - you - what? No? Did Pomni move her room?"
Jax thought he'd be prepared for any answer. Any variant of yes, with any reasons attached because what the hell else could it be? That she abstracted in the night and Caine just poofed her and all things related to her away? No because why would he do that? He'd never erased someone's room when they abstracted before. The rest of them would have surely heard an abstracted Pomni too, but as far as he could tell no one had. There weren't any damage marks done to the nearby walls or floor either, nothing to indicate some beast had run through it and destroyed things.
"Who?"

After the awards show, still reeling from his panic attack and trying to ignore his emotions, Jax mumbles to himself about how it’d be easier if Pomni had never arrived in the circus just before he goes to bed.
And then he wakes up and no one else can seem to remember her. He’s convinced it’s a prank. It’s not.
(set post ep 6 but pre ep 7, takes a lot of inspo from ep 7 though)

Jax forces a grin back on his face, but it's jagged and twitching. "You wanted me to talk so bad, now you're doing this?!"
"We gave you a chance!" Zooble yells, taking a step closer to Jax. "We've all been at your door for days stupidly trying to get you tell tell us anything! I even tried to help you at the beach, for f[%$!#]'s sake!" Their voice lowers. "You've had your chances, Jax. You f[%$!#]ing wasted them."

In the aftermath of the 'Escape the Circus' adventure, tensions come to a head. Caine tries to make everything right with the circus members, but his attempts to regain their trust cause an even deeper rift to form as Jax is separated from the group during a new immersive maze adventure.
