“Easy.” Lance spoke softly as he inched his body closer. The wolf weakly squeezed in response, a feeble smile on his lips. “I don't make promises I can't keep.” The black haired creature watched him through half lidded eyes. He was getting tired himself and let his cheek rest on the mattress. “Know that I promise to do everything in my power to take care of you. All right?” He brought his gaze up and hoped he was making eye contact through the wolf's bangs. “You don't have to struggle anymore. You're safe; they're safe. It's okay.”
Maybe it was the fever, because there were no alarm bells. No red flags. Nothing to indicate this human was a threat - something to fear and defend against. The wolf's instincts had been assuaged as he settled into the notion that he was protected and provided for here. In fact, the way he was being consoled made him feel like a pup being cared for by his mother.

Summary
Lance trips over a sentry’s leg and finds himself with a face full of blood.
It’s not his blood but after wiping his face and blinking the sickening hot red out of his eyes, he wishes it was. There’s a woman lying dead before him, purple hands uncurled and limp with a baby lying on her naked chest.
The cold horror in his chest settles into something more painful when he sees the tiny blood-colored lump but then the baby stirs, kicks, and Lance can breathe again. Thank god, he prays. He doesn’t believe in god anymore but for this tiny baby, he’ll dedicate a second to the blue skies back on Earth.

Set after season 2?
The crew knows about The Blade of Marmora and Keith's Galran heritage. Keith found his mom. Shiro was gone and then came back and gave Keith his scar. Shiro is the leader and the Black Lion. Allura does not have a Lion in this fic. I will not dive into quintessence + Zarkon is dead.
They all live in the Castle and try to make the world better. Keith goes on the occasional mission with the Blades.- Language:

He was still optimistic that the bite truly was nothing but your regular, run-of-the-mill injury. However, Pidge’s choked gasp crushed any hope he had in an instant.
“Pidge?” Keith muttered, sounding as hopeless as Lance felt.
“You…he…!” Pidge took a sharp breath just as Hunk appeared in the clearing once again, along with Allura, Shiro, and Coran.
“Keith claimed you!”
