Summary
Stan took a deep, shuttering, breath as he looked in the mirror. “At least it can’t get worse from here.”
… A crouching, hunched-over man is crumpled at his porch, shivering violently as snowflakes cling to his dirty blonde hair. His body was folded in on itself, arms wrapped around his shins, face buried against his knees.
“Uh.” Stanley says, dumbfounded. Not sure if he should shoo him away with a broom.

Summary
Stanford Pines, blessed with the freedom only a large sum of grant money can bring, flees to the mysterious and fantastical Gravity Falls. What he will discover are not just creatures of unimaginable improbability, but his destiny--- to be a prophet, a harbinger, and an apostle. Fighting a crushing loneliness that lingers deep within his chest, and searching ever more desperately for his true purpose, Pines unravels the myths of Gravity Falls. Little does he know what he truly chases is what will become his Muse--- his God. As Pines digs deeper into Gravity Falls, the town digs deeper into him--- until, eventually, they are inextricably intertwined.

Summary
Ford does not want to be at Backupsmore University. He should be in California, at West Coast Tech, showing the world that he's more than a freakish waste of space from Jersey; showing the world that he's more than the scrawny, brainy half of a dynamic duo. He's angry, sure, and he's sure-as-fuck tired of being just one-of-two-Stans.
But who isn't angry right now? The world is in turmoil, they're sending our boys to Vietnam and if it wasn't for this stupid school, Ford would have probably been sucked into the draft himself.
But then he meets Fiddleford Hadron McGucket, and everything is different now. -

Summary
Stan didn’t know what he expected. Just a larger version of the kid he had known in high school, really. Sure they were identical, but Stan hadn’t been the person who looked like his brother in a long time. New scars, constant stubble, greasy mullet, dirty clothes, couple new teeth…He wasn’t exactly his best self. Ford seemed to be doing just fine, last he heard, what with his fancy house up in the Pacific Northwest wilderness, so he had assumed that he would be more…stable.
He noted his shaking hands, the relentless pacing he had picked up, back and forth through the room like a caged animal. He took in the unshaved face, the sunken eyes with dark shadows so deep they may as well be bruises. He looked pale and skinny, like he hadn’t been eating enough. Still, Ford stared ahead, hands clutching a book he had picked up during his rambles, eyes flicking back and forth like he was reading the blank air.
What was this guy so afraid of way out here?
In which there's slightly more communication when Stan first comes to Gravity Falls, and it makes all the difference.

Summary
He didn’t doubt that Ford had some kind of sexual history. Fiddleford sure did, though it had been quite some time. But this was new territory for the two of them as a couple. A Pseudo First for them both.
OR
Stanford and Fiddleford both mistakenly assume the other doesn't want to have sex.
