Max seemed to think. He looked at Charles and then down at nothing in particular. “I'd like to. But for me it's probably better if I don't.”
“Yeah…” Charles looked away. “Sometimes I wonder if life would've been better if I never loved them.” He gently rubbed the spot above his heart.
Max hesitated. He seemed unsure whether he wanted an answer to the questions he was itching to ask. “Do you… Do you think people could love someone who wasn't their soulmate?”
OR
Max is a hitman for hire. His soulmark was the most unfortunate words. Charles was a man with money and people who loved him surrounding him.

Summary
Lando Norris is on the path to becoming a Formula 1 World Champion, with only one thing standing in his way:
Oscar Piastri.
With Lando racing for McLaren and Oscar on the Mercedes team, the rivalry between them only seems to intensify with each point.
After a disappointing race result and a few too many drinks, Lando accidentally posts a tweet targeted at Oscar. Having created a bad look for himself and McLaren in the process, public relations is forced to clean up Lando's mess.
Unfortunately for Lando, this means he'll have to put on a show for the media, pretending Oscar is one of his "close friends," and making the post seem like a simple misunderstanding.

Lando’s curls are still damp from his shower, and he’s changed into a soft looking hoodie and sweatpants. He’s holding a bag in one hand and his phone in the other.
Oscar doesn’t move.
He can’t, really. The needle is still in his thigh but he can’t feel it anymore. Not over the way his heart is beating out of his chest. He hasn’t even pushed the liquid in.
Maybe Oscar can play this off. Admit he’s a drug addict. That feels better than the alternative.
