Against his better judgement Kim Dokja decided to read a Yoo Joonghyuk x Reader fanfiction. What else was he supposed to do when the novel that accompanied him through his life ended? Well, he probably could’ve done better than read a fanfiction riddled with the most cliché tropes one could find.
But one day, this fanfiction must come to its end too. However, not in a way Kim Dokja expected, he realised as the fanfiction suddenly got deleted and the most beautiful man, he ever laid his eyes on was perched over him, repeating familiar lines.
Surely this was just some weird prank. Kim Dokja was a reader, yes, but he wasn't that reader.
Or: A cliché filled Yoo Joonghyuk x Reader fanfiction suddenly becomes real, and Kim Dokja clumsily tries to evade the advances of a certain protagonist.

I hadn't even finished the first chapter and already knew this one was a fine feast. The writing has a lot of personality.
I also don't think any fic has made me wanna yell at Dokja to LOCK THE FUCK IN with his anxieties as much as this one. The start managed to even give my own heart phantom limb pains of an anxious workout. God have mercy.
Finally, the Pining, chef's kiss. It ain't a slow burner but it still packs a punch. This that good kush.
I can't get over Dokja using "slay" though. That's crossing a line I didn't even know I had. I see a lot of speech and writing patterns close to mine except, y'know, more refined and overall better.

He observes him at the end of the day, when he puts away his belongings with slow movements and leaves the establishment without taking the bus.
His clothes are often wrinkled. His hair is rather badly cut. His grades are okay. He always has dark circles under his eyes. He reads constantly. He spends a lot of time on his phone.
In high school, Yoo Joonghyuk somehow saves Kim Dokja's life.

The story could be summed up by me as: A very tactically placed game of gay chicken. Both men are so deeply concentrated on the game that it emotionally hinders them. Neither man wins. Now they gotta play the game for eternity together.
