Summary
The water is cold as it rains down on him from the shower head, covering his body head to toe in a chill faintly replicates the frigidness of his heart.
It’s been years since she first pumped him full of eggs.
Years since they were stupid and young, and Banhammer was especially stubborn. He remembers the way he urged her on, coaxing what had been a wild, reckless, and wholly smitten Scythe into spending breeding season with him. It had been something he wanted. Something he craved to overcome and prove himself with.
Sitting here decades later in the bathtub, alone with nothing but the sounds of pelting water and the sensation of eggs and seed weighing down his belly, Banhammer thinks that this doesn’t prove anything at all.

Summary
Rex nearly dies on the mission against the lizard league, while Mark's off-planet, as he fears for his life, he makes a phone call.
Three missed calls- and one voicemail, to Mark. Though they’re never heard until it was too late.
Now Rex is injured but alive, with a guilt-ridden Mark, by his bedside. As Mark sits with him, Rex is finally able to say what he couldn't before.
