“Dazai, what the fuck is this?”
Brown eyes, still cloudy, peered up at him as if the words hadn’t even been comprehended in Dazai’s mind. His head cocked to the side in a silent question and Chuuya moved to push Dazai’s leg up a bit further, bringing it into the light so they could both see properly.
The near entirety of the skin was marred, of course, self-inflicted scars crisscrossing each other, old enough to have turned a faded white, but that wasn’t what he was focused on.
The issue lay in a series of fresh ones. They were scarily recent, probably only a few days old at best, and scabbed over. None looked bad enough to have needed stitches but they were pretty damn close.
Those hadn’t been there the last time they’d done this. In fact, nothing of the sort had been there any of the times they’d fucked since before Dazai left the Port Mafia.

In which Chuuya and Dazai have been having casual sex for years and all of that is fine until Dazai relapses for the first time since leaving the Port Mafia.

Mr. Morita asks Tony why he’s doing this, and Tony says it’s for his kid, but doesn’t specify who that is. A fun fic with mostly outsider POV’s and some angst. Does this count as a Peter’s Field Trip To Stark Industries story? I don’t know. Is it outlandish? Absolutely.

Sitting at the bedside of his comatose body, Chuuya tries to understand.

Dazai is falling. In the orange glow of sunrise, the waves of his hair are fanning around him, and his dark eyes are wide with fear and shock, his hand outstretched towards Chuuya. His bandages are unravelling all around him in the wind.
Chuuya is not even thinking anymore. All he can see is that hand reaching for him as he launches off against the balustrade and falls after him.
He uses his ability to make himself heavier, his own drop faster, his hand reaching for Dazai right back.
It's only when he catches Dazai in his arms, holding his head tight against his own shoulder and trying to fly back up that he remembers; this won't work.
He must have been really out of his mind to have forgotten it at all.

They're Chuuya and Dazai until they're Soukoku until they're an unrivaled, unstoppable force and somewhere in the middle of all of that the constant, unwavering presence in the back of Chuuya's mind stakes a claim in his partner and it's easily ignorable until suddenly, it isn't.
That's what makes me love you, Dazai said when they first met, before trying and failing to pass it off as a joke, and now Chuuya understands how the realization can hit you like lightning, so sudden and overwhelming and unwanted. Dazai looked ashamed after he said it. Chuuya thinks he understands that now, too.
Or, Chuuya will go to any lengths for Dazai. He never expects that the reverse is also true.

Dazai takes pride in keeping his past in the mafia a secret. Sure, the Agency knows that he was an executive, but they don’t know the nitty-gritty, bloody, horrifying details. They don’t know about the inhumane torture he inflicted, the brutal ways he killed people, the methods he used to break a human's soul until they were nothing more than an empty, unresponsive bag of flesh—all so he could survive in the mafia. All so he could ensure Akutugawa’s survival, the protection of Chuuya’s humanity, and the safety of sweet, sweet Gin (he would have done it for Q, too, if they hadn’t already been deep in Mori’s sadistic clutches).
He prides himself on this, but some things can’t be kept a secret forever.
