Summary
Sirius Black is a rich snob. Remus Lupin works two minimum wage jobs to make ends meet. When they cross paths at the restaurant where Remus works as a waiter, it does not go well.
But then Sirius is disowned and disinherited after coming out as gay and he is forced to get a job at the same restaurant where Remus works. Then, life happens.
OR...
Remus has been abandoned too many times and is afraid of falling in love. He has resigned himself to the belief that he is better off alone because, in his experience, his chronic illness is too heavy a burden on everyone around him. Love just isn't meant for someone like him.Sirius has spent his entire life obsessed with romance and dreaming of finding a love like the movies. So when his abusive family tries to arrange a marriage for him, he decides to come out publicly to prevent it. He is subsequently cast out into the real world, which leads him to Remus.
Love, as it turns out, is a lot more complicated than the movies.

Remus bit his lip, looking like he might cry. “Please, sir. Is there anything I can do? I know I’m not cut out for this, but maybe I can do something else?”
“Something else?” Sirius raised an eyebrow at him. “Like what?”
“I don’t know, sir, but please.” Remus took a step closer, pleading look on his face. “I’ll do anything to stay.”
“Anything?” Sirius asked, eyebrow raised and a smirk on his lip. Remus inhaled sharply and his blush deepened.

An accident turns Sirius invisible and causes him to repeat the same day over and over again.
“Funny prank, everyone,” Sirius called out as loudly as he could, “Pretending that no one sees me! Hilarious! You all can stop now.” No one reacted.
His whole body was filling with terror. He couldn’t stop thinking about Professor Binns, who died in the staff room fire but got up and resumed his teaching career, never realizing that he had become a ghost. Was Sirius now a ghost? Had he left his body behind?

Steve never tells anyone about Billy. He watches Max disappear into herself with grief and guilt but he can’t bring himself to tell her that he feels it, too. That he knows the loss is mixed up with hatred and relief, but is still pure in the way it pierces something fundamental inside of him, and he gets it. He just never tells anyone.
But then there is Eddie Munson, with a wickedness that feels wholesome and warm and slowly, Steve is starting to think he might want it. He just doesn’t think he can figure it out without first figuring out how to let go of Billy.

Screamed as his flesh was torn apart, heard Master of Puppets in the distance and held back tears. Felt Max’s cold, small hand in his as she laid in the hospital bed. There are things that always happen, no matter how hard he tries: El doesn’t arrive in time. Eddie dies. Max is put in a coma.
Steve fails. They lose.
“Steve, how many loops have you been through?”
His head is nodding, and his eyes are watery, and Eddie has approached him like a spooked animal.
“I lost count.”
